I’m teaching a few classes online for Alt Summit.
I’ve already taught my first, on Growing a Readership, and I’ll be teaching my second this afternoon about Understanding Analytics. Both will be repeated in March in the evening, so there’s still time to sign up if you’re interested. Each class is just $15.
Understanding Analytics
February 23, 11am PST & March 13, 6pm PST
Page views, subscribers, and unique visitors, oh my! Learn what to use and how to use it when it comes to keeping track of your site’s stats.
Growing a Readership
February 9, 11am PST & March 28, 6pm PST
Looking to grow your blog? Of course you are! Learn tips and get concrete steps to grow your readership and create a true community for your site.
I’ll be honest; I do get nervous before these things. I’m introverted and shy! I love talking about the business of blogging though, and I have so much information to share. Really, once I get past seeing my face staring back at me during the class (oh yeah, there’s video), I’m very comfortable. Plus I’ve put together some awesome powerpoint presentations (which is something I never imagined I would be typing), and I’m proud to be partnering with Alt Summit on the whole thing.
Besides, I’m going to pretend you were all listening to this before class. It’s my version of imagining the audience in their underwear; much less intimidating.

February 23, 2012 at 12:36 amI don’t see the Understanding Analytics class on March 13th. Is it because it’s already full?

February 23, 2012 at 12:37 amI think that they’re waiting to list it until after today’s class has ended, to avoid duplicates.

February 23, 2012 at 4:15 amAs I am in the UK, the evening slot for Growing a Readership is a bit late for me (it will be 2am here!) – will you be selling a pdf version of your presentation / session?
Sue
February 23, 2012 at 8:38 amWould also love to see the 2am March growing a readership class but it’s very early in the morning. Will there be another?
Making it Lovely
February 23, 2012 at 9:25 amThe other time slot would have been 7pm for you, I believe, but that class sold out fairly quickly. I don’t have any more class sessions scheduled, so I’m not sure if the course will be offered again.

February 23, 2012 at 6:28 amOh wow…this is going to sound so cheeky, but I’d love to see what an awesome PowerPoint looks like. I have to teach PowerPoint to children and it is quite hard sometimes, just because there are so many hideous examples out there (word art, hideous stock backgrounds, shudder).

February 23, 2012 at 9:26 amThe two slides above are from my Growing a Readership presentation. Nothing groundbreaking, just nicely designed (especially when compared to most PowerPoints).

February 23, 2012 at 7:49 amI’m definitely looking forward to taking one of those classes in March. Here’s hoping they’re planning on repeating the photography classes as well. I’m already signed up for an intensive yoga practice this month. Why hasn’t anyone one invented a way for us to be in two places at once yet? Come on, scientists! And while you’re at it, get on teleportation.

February 23, 2012 at 8:07 amI will be there today! I’m taking a late lunch at work (it’s at 2 EST here) to watch. You’ll do fine!

February 23, 2012 at 10:17 amI just wanted to say that I felt a bit doubtful about some of the descriptions of the classes, but I when I read you were a presenter, I felt total confidence that your classes would be worthwhile. You seem very savvy and while I obviously don’t know you, you seem like someone who would really want to make sure you offered something of value.

February 23, 2012 at 12:48 pmYes. I spent a lot of time on each presentation, making sure each is the best it could be.

February 23, 2012 at 12:03 pmI just made my first prezi: I love it! It is adorable. I will never make another powerpoint again, unless I am forced to.
I love how your little girl dresses. Can I have those clothes? I mean, 17 isn’t too old to wear those tights, right?
Thanks for the great blog…I have been reading it since before Eleanor’s first b-day party. :)

February 23, 2012 at 10:15 pmThank you for letting me know! I didn’t realize Alt was accessible via classes. What a great resource! I signed up for a blogging basics class, but I can’t decide between your two-they’re both great topics! Maybe Growing Readership first. Thanks again!
