I always return to pink.
I wrote, a couple of weeks ago, about needing a new winter coat. I did consider tailoring my old coat so that it would fit again, but the proportion of the pockets and lapels would look wrong on me now. So I ordered the pink coat I’d featured and even though it’s not my usual favorite shape, I love it! I suspect the color may be clouding my vision — my rose-colored vision — but I’m fine with that.
Motorola has just come out with the Moto X, which can be customized in 2000+ ways to match your unique style. So what color did I choose to inspire me as I put together a style post? If you didn’t shout PINK!, you must be new here. Hello!

On sale, so go grab ’em quick! -
Layer Cake Glasses, Rivet & Sway
Perhaps the cutest glasses ever. -
Merino Tippi Sweater, J. Crew
This is the sweater style I wore when I interviewed Martha Stewart, and I shall henceforth call it The Martha Sweater. -
Samira Wool Calf Hair Coat, Club Monaco
Pale pink wool, with matching pink leather details. -
Ultra Skinny Pants, Gap
These pants are the best! I have them in black, and in this bright red. -
Hamilton Heights Sloan, Kate Spade
Ladylike pretty. -
Reese Brogues, Anthropologie
I got very excited when I saw these, which is kind of a silly thing to say about shoes. -
Moto X, Motorola
The perfect pink, with red for some kapow.
Someone noted that I seem to be wearing pants a lot more lately, which is true. I still rock a skirt or a dress pretty often, but now instead of only breaking out the pants a handful of times per year, it’s a more even mix. Pink though, is still ever-present in my wardrobe. Do you have a color that you always return to like that?

October 14, 2013 at 12:53 pmUh, I let out an audible excited “ohh” when I saw the shoes. You’re not alone.

October 14, 2013 at 12:54 pmOkay, that phone is kind of cool! I have an Android, and while it’s not a big deal, I always wish it could look prettier. Love your coat!

October 14, 2013 at 2:08 pmI think we might be total style opposites. I could go days without wearing anything but black and grey! I love all of your bright and feminine choices but for some reason when I shop I never buy anything colorful.

October 16, 2013 at 2:40 pmAnd I rarely buy black and grey. It washes me out.

October 14, 2013 at 2:22 pmWell you certainly deserve a new coat! The most important pieces of clothing a girl can own is her coat and her bathrobe. They ought to be nice. The colors I always choose? Black, dark brown, navy, and aqua. Not too exciting.
Making it Lovely
October 16, 2013 at 2:41 pmI never thought of a bathrobe on par with an overcoat, but I like that thinking.

October 14, 2013 at 2:32 pmSo happy to hear that you were able to find a new coat! It’s a pretty choice, too. Though it’s such a pale shade of pink, it almost looks white, online!
Did you have an opportunity to see how pink it truly is, in-person, before purchasing it? Or, did you take a leap of faith; and just order it online?
Best,
Jessica
Ps. I know you’re a huge Rifle Paper fan – as am I. And, this past weekend, I actually had a chance to visit her studio. (It’s gorgeous!) Feel free to peruse some of what I shared, from my experience.

October 16, 2013 at 2:45 pmIt is very pale. I ordered, making sure that I could easily return it for a full refund if needed. And how awesome to be able to visit the Rifle Paper Co. shop! I love love love Anna Bond’s style.

October 14, 2013 at 4:51 pmI ALWAYS go back to shades of turquoise or aqua blue for both fashion and home. If it works, then work it!
Also, I just read your post about meeting Martha – how LOVELY!

October 16, 2013 at 2:48 pmThat was a dream come true, literally.

October 14, 2013 at 5:02 pmI am constantly drawn to navy and gray. I definitely have to limit myself when shopping!

October 14, 2013 at 9:54 pmI find I’m seasonal in the colors I wear — darker for late fall/winter and brights for spring/summer.
For my home, my favorite is turquoise! But, I bought a gorgeous pink coat a couple years ago from Banana Republic for an awesome sale price. Fortunately/unfortunately, I lost weight and had to give it away. Lucky friend. I’m loving the pink Kate Spade purse you show.

October 15, 2013 at 9:40 ami think that pink is way overrated

October 15, 2013 at 2:45 pmPink is the best – bought myself some bright pink shoes from Boden for the fall, and they are the best thing I have in my closet!

October 16, 2013 at 10:40 amall cute. I have to say my go to color is black – I know, I know…. I am one of those people. I just feel so comfortable in it and it can easily be transitioned throughout the seasons – it is a color that you can always find in a store.

October 16, 2013 at 6:42 pmBack around 1984 while in college, I saved for weeks to purchase a pale pink wool coat from The Limited that has a peter pan collar. I ADORED that coat. When I got married, my husband thought it was pink overload :( and I put it away and forgot about it, and now I’m sure it doesn’t fit but I do still have it stowed in the hope chest. I’m so happy that the 80s are back in style, leggings, pink coats, etc. — michele

October 17, 2013 at 12:22 pmI think it was me that mentioned the pants :) and I like it.

October 19, 2013 at 7:50 pmUmmm, how did I miss this post? Love the ensemble. I love those glasses, I might need the black licorice ones. They’re fab and maybe a little more conservative. I always get nervous about coloured frames. I’m such a wimp!
