Style: September ’08

My birthday is later this month and I’ve been thinking about buying something from ban.do as a little gift to myself. Maybe the purple fascinator (no. 26), maybe something else. You really can’t go wrong with ban.do… everything there is lovely.

Style: September '08

I’ve had the Forget Me Knot Ring on my wish list for months and months now, but I still haven’t bought one. I did however buy the cute little Powdered Milk Dress (with built-in slip, yay!) from Old Navy for $34. I’ll probably pair it up with red shoes and a distressed brown bag that I already own, similar to the Cupid’s Arrow Peep-Toes from Anthropologie and the Bitter Sweeter Satchel from Macy’s.

p.s. Have you noticed a trend yet in my style posts? All skirts and dresses. I don’t really include pants or jeans in my wardrobe, so I haven’t been including them here either.

I love that you don’t include pants or jeans in your style posts. I only have one pair of jeans & one pair of shorts (seersucker!) & I hardly ever wear them. Dressy pants look TERRIBLE on me… Dresses & skirts just work better! You give me great ideas. :)

It’s funny, up until about 5 years ago, I ONLY wore skirts and dresses. I didn’t even own a single pair of pants or jeans.

Now, though, I ONLY wear jeans. I own a couple of dresses, but I very rarely wear them — I almost feel like I’m playing dress-up (in a bad way) when I put one on. I’d say I wear jeans 360 days a year.

I still don’t wear (or own) any non-jeans pants, though. They’re still too adult for me. ;)

My birthday is TODAY! Since I’m on a tight budget in my new home my birthday gift to myself was many gallons of paint and a Pier1 area rug. This year it’s all about the house.

I like the Marc Ecko bag, gorgeous. Have a very happy birthday :)

So cute! I personally couldn’t pull off a fascinator unless I was at a British wedding (and maybe not even then! :), but I think you’d be cute in it.

And as far as the ring goes… I think Brandon now should have a *very* easy time getting you a birthday gift!

I love that dress, and ON even? Wow, very affordable. :)
But throw in those cute shoes?? Probably 3x the price of the dress. I so love the shoes, though. The whole outfit is just great.

I’m glad that you only do dresses/skirts. I rarely wear pants myself, and find that dresses are so much more comfy, yet pulled together at the same time. I love your whole outfit, especially the shoes!(though I know how expensive Anthro shoes are)

Wow, I love the dress. I just wish I knew what size I was going to be later on. (I’m 37 weeks pregnant.) And Old Navy can be difficult with sizing.

It’s a good thing that ON dress has a built in slip. I have a very similar dress from them, but in magenta, almost exactly the same dress really, but I’ve had mine a while. Anyway, the dress is super sheer. Like I had to go out and buy the first slip I’ve owned for literally years to wear it. I love the way you’ve styled this version, especially those red shoes.

I LOVE the ‘forget me know ring!’ If you do get it, please let us know if it gets caught on everything (that’s what I fear). I love your style, you don’t need to post jeans, etc. It’s nice to see a girly girl, femme, but not too femme, girly without being too sticky sweet, vintage-ish without looking like you walked off a set of some dated sitcom… I rarely wear dresses, but always think about them and you always have your finger on the pulse of where to get the cutest ones.

Just an FYI: I got the silver Forget Me Knot ring last year and wore it just a few times before one of the tail ends popped off (while pulling my pants up!). I was heart broken since I tromped all the way to Future Perfect in Brooklyn to get it, dragging 2 others along the way and then we got stranded in a rainstorm with no umbrellas. I contacted the artist and never heard a word back so I’m still a little bitter! Can you say HOT BUTTON!? If you do get it, be SUPER careful. They are not built for regular everyday activities! Have a great birthday.

I always love your style choices. And I’m with you, I never wear pants anymore–it’s sort of shocking.
