Ahhhh. I’m loving my new pouf. It is SO nice to be able to prop my feet up, AND it looks cute in the room.
I ordered my Moroccan Pouf from John Derian, but honestly I should have probably gone with the less expensive pouf from Tazi. I was fixated on the more expensive one, mostly because of this photo from Domino. I felt like I knew what to expect and I didn’t know if the other would look the same… though it probably would have. So I do feel a bit foolish now for spending so much on a footrest, but oh well. I do like it quite a bit.
Camilla
March 17, 2009 at 10:30 amI think it looks really pretty. And it’s worth spending a little more to have something you’re really happy with.

March 17, 2009 at 10:33 amIt’s lovely. I would have done the same thing!

I just have to tell you that I love love love your style. I love looking through pics of your home for inspiration. So thank you for always sharing where you purchased things from and showing pictures of your lovely home! :)

March 17, 2009 at 10:45 amOk too funny. I go onto comment and see that the first post is written by Camilla. I thought wait a second I haven’t posted anything yet and then realized there was a double L and of course other people have the same name as me.
Anyway back to my comment. I love the pouf! It’s all looks so pretty. I’m pink with envy. I want the pouf, the rug, the chair… I could go on and on.
Missy
March 17, 2009 at 10:54 amThey look the same, but I imagine the John Derian is of better quality. And don’t beat yourself up over it–it’s only a $30 difference!
Making it Lovely
March 17, 2009 at 10:56 amThe price listed at Domino is out of date… it was more like a $100 difference after shipping is figured in. *blush*
I do imagine our little girl climbing on it too, which is a nice thought. :)

March 17, 2009 at 10:57 amLOVE the pouf! everytime i come to your site, i’m always envious of all the pink! my husband definitely limits the amount of pink i can use in our place..:(
btw..congrats on the pregnancy! i just gave birth to my little girl a month ago. :)

March 17, 2009 at 11:13 amSometimes it is better to go with what you know, especially if you are not viewing the competition first hand, but looking online. I have had a few experiences where the quality was not up to par.
Amanda
March 17, 2009 at 11:29 amI love the Moroccan pouf! It’s a little out of my price range (platry teacher salary), but I am going to make the one from Amy Butler and try it out :-)

March 17, 2009 at 11:37 amSuper cute socks! I’ve been looking for some like that for a couple months now, without much luck.

March 17, 2009 at 11:39 amLooks so comfy–and perfect with the living room decor, of course! (Yes, I’m still drooling over those pillows!)

March 17, 2009 at 11:58 amLove the pouf! and by the way, where’s the rug from?

March 17, 2009 at 12:10 pmI bought one of these from Target last year, a faux leather dark brown one and didn’t know what it was called until I saw yours! I had been looking for floor pillows for the library part of my living room and it looked like it would work. It works as extra seating at my house but I would still LOVE some great floor pillows … any suggestions?
deanna
March 17, 2009 at 12:17 pmIt’s perfect. And so much better than putting your feet on the coffee table *gasp!*
If it makes you feel pampered, then it was worth it! Nice find.
Valentina
March 17, 2009 at 12:23 pm*LOVELY* and you have to pamper your feet! Enjoy it! :)

March 17, 2009 at 12:47 pmThat is such a cute table/footrest! And the best part is it is also the most baby friendly “coffee table” I can think of!
Amanda
March 17, 2009 at 1:52 pmBeing the tight-arse that I am, I can’t even comprehend spending that much on a foot rest. But even I have to admit, it does look lovely, comfortable & practical!

March 17, 2009 at 2:02 pmTotally worth the money for an image as beautiful as this one. Its the little things (sometimes free, sometimes a little expensive) that make life fun.
Your blog makes me very happy!

March 17, 2009 at 2:26 pmLove the pouf but the socks really caught my eye……….where did you find them?
Rosemary
March 17, 2009 at 3:00 pmAhhh! I actually posted that Domino picture on my blog and linked to you – noting that the rug looked similar to yours!
I love it and am totally jealous!

March 17, 2009 at 7:01 pmCUTE CUTE CUTE!!!! I LOVE your blog – it makes me smile :)
*Footrests are worth every cent, I have a pretty one from Laura Ashley that my parents gave me for my 30th. The kids love sitting on it & when I get a chance to put my feet up, I REALLY enjoy it! x

March 17, 2009 at 7:24 pm100$ difference will not make any difference in the long run. But having the knock off version would have always bothered you. I think you made the right choice. It’s also one of those items that you’ll use a lot for many many years, so you’ll get your money’s worth for sure.
Super cute!
jen
March 17, 2009 at 7:26 pmjust linked to it. this picture should be used in a wall calendar!
thanks Nicole :)

March 17, 2009 at 9:20 pmWanted to tell you how cute that pouf is! I checked out both that you had links to and I like the top design of the one you bought better, plus the shade of pink is great! I think that the other one (Tazi) was not as nice a shade and if I were you it would have bothered me! I’m of the firm belief that you should invest more money on things you use everyday. This would be one of those things!!

March 17, 2009 at 10:09 pmI love the pillow! The room looks so nice and pretty.

March 17, 2009 at 10:12 pmi think your pouf looks awesome. I totally understand that feeling you get when you wonder if it was worth it, but i agree with other commenters that in the long run you’ll probably not feel the difference and feel great about buying a quality product:) I’ve been meaning to get a pouf or even make the one from Amy Butler like you had considered too, but i can’t find the pattern. I’ve tried to find it online, but all i get is a list of materials? how do i go about acquiring instructions?
caroline
March 17, 2009 at 11:00 pmi live in sf and have gone to tazi many times. their poufs are wonderful. i am getting a handful for my client. high quality, soft leather, clean stitching. you can even customize it. i’m sure the john derian one will be amazing too.
Lola
March 18, 2009 at 6:00 amIt looks great with the rug.
I find there’s nothing wrong in spoiling ourselves every now and then.
It’s very good for the soul, and by being happier, it’s also good for those around us.
In my place the pouf probably wouldn’t last very long… one of our cats loves to get her claws on everything, and so we chose our furniture based on loving it, of course, but also on being ‘olivia-proof’!
luuvely
March 18, 2009 at 7:04 amall i can say is…SOOOO WHAT..my motto is…”get exactly what you want”..and besides..the pic from domino bares a striking resemblance to your pad..super cute rug..and the pouf…who wouldnt have done it! lolol
and the thought of your sweet little baby girl climbing on the pouf and pushing it around the house when she learns to walk is all worth sitting back with your feet kicked up..daydreaming :)
enjoy it! :)

March 18, 2009 at 9:54 ami need to add some more pink to my home. thanks for the inspiration you share!
jenae – the rug looks like a cotton flatweave madeline weinrib rug. i have one myself in a different pattern (purchased through juliet home furnishings when i was visiting a friend in new orleans) and i love it. absolutely love it and highly recommend it. her website (madelineweinrib.com) will show lots of beautiful choices. hope that helps!

March 18, 2009 at 12:44 pmI like the one you actually bought better than the other one. From the photo of the other one, it looks more round, with less structure. I rather like the shape of the one you actually bought.
Your blog is wonderful! I am a designer/illustrator, and have been enjoying visiting from time to time. Thanks for sharing!

March 18, 2009 at 6:13 pmOkay, the pouf is cute. Enjoy!
But I have to know, where did you get those SOCKS?!!
I love them! I want them!
Laurie
March 18, 2009 at 6:49 pmI love it! A perfect place to rest your feet. You probably would have been wishing for this one if you had bought the less expensive pouf…
Heather
March 18, 2009 at 7:18 pmSomehow, when you’re pregnant and uncomfy…it just doesn’t matter what it costs. I would have traded anything to have been on a comfortable couch at the end of my pregnancy but it took so darn long to be delivered, we didn’t get it until AFTER the baby was born.
Love the lovely foot-pouf!
Katie
March 18, 2009 at 7:30 pmIf it makes you happy that it is 100% worth it. :) I hope you aren’t too uncomfortable in this last stage of pregnancy! Take care of yourself!

March 18, 2009 at 8:02 pmIf I had the money, no doubt that I would have splurged too. Enjoy!

March 19, 2009 at 5:37 amI think you need to treat yourself when you are pregnant. Off topic, is that a cotton flatweave? I am thinking of getting something similar, but I am afraid that it will get too dirty and that it will be hard to clean. Thought? (Yours looks pristine, which is a good sign.)
Lindsay
March 19, 2009 at 7:29 amsuper cute! I saw a brown one at Target yesterday for cheap. Yours is probably better quality which will last longer with kids :)

March 19, 2009 at 9:25 amYou deserve it! I want an “outdoor egg” now that I see yours. I’m a teacher and can see myself relaxing after a tough day and reading in there! Love your website!

March 19, 2009 at 10:18 amfrom Janet: “I like the one you actually bought better than the other one. From the photo of the other one, it looks more round, with less structure. I rather like the shape of the one you actually bought.”
That’s what I was thinking too.
The rug is a cotton flatweave from Madeline Weinrib (I bought it at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC). We’ve had it for about a year and it’s held up well so far. It’s reversible too, so we can always flip it over and extend the life of it.
Oh, and those knee socks were from Target.

March 19, 2009 at 11:03 amThis is so cute! :) It’s amazing how marketing can affect our purchase choices. :-P

March 19, 2009 at 11:47 amI have a question or favor? I’m not sure. But I was wondering if maybe you could post a list of your favorite websites for fabric if you happen to have a list. Pretty please? I’m having a hard time finding some good sites. I have a couple like, reprodepot and purl. And also maybe some wallpaper sites, like walnut wallpaper?
I would <3 you forever!

March 20, 2009 at 1:00 pmI LOVE this, the light in the room is so pretty and you amaze me how you can make pink look sophisticated and not Barbie-ish. That alone is a talent work a bajillion bucks.

March 20, 2009 at 4:43 pmIt’s very pink, but you definitely made it work with all the different textures. Love it!
Also, I have a favor to ask of you and your readers–I’m a poor college student, and desperately need homeowners to take this survey: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/115813/tv-commercial-feedback
It’ll take no more than 10 minutes. Please! Thanks!

March 21, 2009 at 4:54 pmI love it! I want the Dark Green (actually looks more blue) John Derian pouf now. Lovely! You made the right decision, the JD pink option is a much nicer, softer color and the design on the top of the pouf is prettier too. Nothing worse than buyer’s remorse. You should feel good that you bought something you love!
Bethany
March 21, 2009 at 7:08 pmOh that’s too cute! Love it…

March 22, 2009 at 7:51 pmThe one you bought is also a little taller than the cheaper version so I think you got the right one. If you’re going to spend money on a footrest, you want one that is the right height for the couch so you can really kick back and relax. It’s super cute, like the rest of your house!
Now, if only I can convince the husband to buy me a footrest like this for my birthday…
