Me Pregnancy

Still Here…

And still pregnant! Sorry for the unexpected break — seems it led to a little speculation that I may have had a more exciting announcement to make. ;)

37 Weeks

I’ve just been uncomfortable and exhausted. My doctor thinks I’m on track to go to my due date (April 14) or longer since first babies tend to come later. Anytime after 37 weeks is considered full-term though, so the baby is officially welcome to come out anytime now! At least I know it can’t be any longer than 5 weeks at this point… and hopefully sooner.

Ha! Such a thought would never occurr to me, each of my 3 babies were late ones, each one later than the last. Here’s to hoping though!

I thought for sure you had delivered. Take it easy until you do, weaning us of regular blog posts is probably a good idea. But it won’t take you long to be back in the saddle, you strike me as a good multi-tasker!

I know exactly how exhausted you are and unfortunately it won’t let up for prob about 2 1/2-3 months :) but it’s SO worth it!! I was miserable towards the end and asked them to strip my membranes to get things moving… something to talk to your OBGYN about if your getting anxious/fed up. Or you can always eat spicy foods, castor oil cocktail…. yuck! REST REST REST and enjoy sleeping while you can!!

I went to 42 weeks with my first, 3 years ago! My water broke when I went in to be induced. Now I also have a 1-year old and another baby due in September. I feel for you! (ps — it only gets better…)

You are probably right about no longer than 5 weeks. They usually don’t let you go more than a week past your due date nowdays, although that always struck me as kind of odd because it’s not really an exact science. Mine was NOT budging at 41 weeks, but they had to get her out because she was already a giant!

You look so lovely! Congrats and good luck with the birth. I went the full 2 weeks overdue and wish I had just slept those 2 weeks away. My advice – get all the rest you can now, even if it just means sitting with your feet up on that gorgeous poof you bought the other week. All the best.

If this kiddo doesn’t inherit your stylish genes, it will be really, really odd. You look very cool in that picture. And as others have said, rest, take care, bone up on parenting skills, and get ready. It really could be any time now.

that’s what my doctor said and my little guy was just born (feb. 27th) on his exact due date and he’s my first! hang in there because once they are out they are SO much work but SO worth it. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to get your rest now because you are about to experience the longest bout of exhaustion ever. congrats!

Oh, you look good! Hang in there – this is the roughest time! I was 39 weeks on the Fourth of July this year and I wanted him to be born so quickly. And of course, he came late, on the 15th. I still don’t remember those couple of weeks very well at all.

    Take care of yourself. :)

Well, you look fabulous! Hang in there…my baby was 2 weeks late and came out healthy and strong, which is the most important thing. It helped me to keep thinking, “I’m incubating” and remembering that the baby was the most portable he was ever going to be!

37 weeks! You look great! I was there in December last year. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to meet the baby, but he decided to come the day after his due date! I know everyone gives you plenty of advice about parenting – wanted or unwanted! But the two that really helped me were to ‘stay relaxed and be flexible’ and not to have a quiet home, have a radio or the tv on when baby is asleep. Best wishes for the birth. Hope baby comes soon! :)

You look fabulous. My son came a week early–two days after my weekly countdown appointment. The doctor told me nothing was going on and he’d see me the following week. You never know! ;)

my first came at 37.5 weeks, fully-baked at 9 lbs. baby will come when she’s ready … doctors can’t predict this stuff! just walk a lot and … ahem … enjoy “grown-up time” with your hubby. it worked like a charm to evict both my babies!

  • Deborah
    March 23, 2009 at 8:47 pm

My first (and probably only) arrived in December almost three weeks early and weighing in at 9lbs 4 oz! My docs kept saying they thought I’d go to full term and have, maybe, an 8 pounder–ha! The thing I loved about having the baby was that I was immediately more comfortable and even though I was getting up during the night for feedings felt more rested than when I was pregnant and couldn’t sleep or get comfortable.

    Good luck!

It will be over before you know it. In November, I was in the same boat but we were still painting/remodeling/unpacking from our move in June. We were hoping AND expecting baby to be late… We were counting on the next 2 weekends to finish painting at least! But OH NO! Went for weekly check up and doctor said not even close- next week we’ll talk about inducing. My water broke at midnight, delivered a healthy baby at nine the next morning.
That was 4 flying months ago. My advice- try and rest. Even if it’s just laying there awake, unable to sleep for the many, many reasons. Your world is about to change. Enjoy & best wishes.
PS I’m typing this at midnight with one hand while breast feeding. Thanks for the entertainment! ;)

If you have time before the babe comes, get your partner to read The Birth Partner. It’s full of ways that he can help you through labour, so that you’re supported and that he feels useful and involved. It has LOTS of info on relaxation and pain management.

Hang in there! Congrats that you made it to the big 3-7. My mother’s 50th birthday is on April 14th, so if you are one of the 5% or less of moms who deliver on their dd, your little one will share a special day with one of the loveliest people on this planet.

You look great and that bump looks low! Don’t believe what they say about first babies always being late– my little baby popped out at 39 weeks, and frankly, I don’t know a single first baby that wasn’t early. Go figure. The last couple weeks are the WORST! Make sure you take time to go out to dinner and/or a movie with your Mr. You (literally) won’t be able to (for months and months) after Baby arrives. Good luck!

My daughter was only one day late – she wanted out and it was fine by me. They say that pizza, beer and/or sex help get baby moving. This also explains why frat boys don’t get pregnant…so not fair.

You look great at 37 weeks! Since I was just there I SO know how you feel. Just enjoy the “down time” and go have some romantic evenings with your sweetie. You never know with babies…my doctor told me that I wasn’t anywhere near delivering on a Friday and I was in the hospital on Sunday night having mine. Hang in there…you’re little one will be here before you know it and you’ll forget all about the discomforts you’ve endured. : ) Most of them completely disappear right away (yaaay!). Although, it’s been a week and I still can’t wear any of my rings because I’m still so swollen…ugh.

All my three babies were late boomers. And all three times I was blessed with not being tired or with sleep problems. On the contrary. I had more energy than my husband who insists on saying that every pregnancy is actually 8 months and one century long…
