Brandon gave me a new Eames chair for my birthday! And a Panton. And a few more by Arne Jacobsen, Eero Saarinen, and Mies van der Rohe. And then some additional Eames chairs for good measure. They’re miniature sized (but they’re big on cute).
I picked up a miniature zen garden that came with a cute little chair about a month ago, and I thought it was pretty adorable. I had no idea at the time that Brandon had seen a whole slew of mini designer chairs and that he was already planning to give them to me for my birthday. Eleanor is going to have a really awesome dollhouse someday.

September 24, 2009 at 4:53 pmLOVE THEM!! So cute! And a great way to feed that bug without a house full of chairs. I remember seeing a really cool, modern dollhouse in the old Flax catalog several years ago that these would be great in. If only I could remember what it was called…Oh well. Baby brain, you defy me.
Enjoy the new goodies! What a fun collection.

September 24, 2009 at 5:05 pmYeah for the awesome doll house for Eleanor someday! I love dollhouses, and it’s one of my life goals to design/build one.

September 24, 2009 at 5:53 pmOh gosh, we share a similar obsession! I have that blue Paton mini, too…and the LCM. Aren’t these the greatest and for only $25! You just can’t beat it. Couldn’t resist sending you a link to some of my collection:

September 24, 2009 at 8:08 pmShe is going to have an amazing dollhouse that she doesn’t realize is amazing until she’s 22. But that’s okay. She’s lucky to have such a rad mom.
And Happy Birthday!!!

September 24, 2009 at 8:42 pmI LOVE Vitra miniatures. I have a Barcelona chair myself. I’m expecting Eleanor’s dollhouse will look more modernist 1960’s bungalow than Barbie’s playhouse :)

September 24, 2009 at 10:10 pmYour site is interesting. Almost every blog entry is about your recent purchases/gifts. There are countless times you have mentioned/referenced your EAMES chair… we all got the message loud and clear… you are now the owner of an EAMES chair. Materialism has you in its tight grip!
Margaret
September 27, 2009 at 8:12 amI am glad I am not the only person who noticed. Materialism photographed and publically displayed for the oohs and aahs of sheep-like followers. How vain.

September 27, 2009 at 9:35 amYOu must be unfamilar with design/decorating magazines, books and blogs.
The blog is all about home design/decorating.
And Nicole is decorating her home, so the point is that she is buying things, and on the blog shares her design and ideas and give us her resources.

September 27, 2009 at 11:44 pmYikes, I really don’t get some people. This is a personal blog, don’t read if you don’t like it. Everyone buys things, we just get to see her cute take on things. And it was her BIRTHDAY present she was letting us enjoy, lighten up!

September 25, 2009 at 1:54 amYou can buy them in Japan for about $5 each (they are Y505) however they come in a box and its a surprise as to which chair you get, which is a common thing in Japan. Anyway I wanted a particular one, so the shop owner got out scales and weighed the chair I wanted and the all boxes until we got what was hopefully the correct weight, I paid for it, slowly opened the box and it was right! So lucky. The shop owner was so sweet to do that for me.

September 25, 2009 at 7:52 amThose are adorable. I have seen those before and have been super tempted — but I’m just afraid of all the dust they’ll collect!

September 25, 2009 at 8:44 amI have the “BARCELONA CHAIR BY MIES VAN DER ROHE” and it is where my cellphone sits. That way I always remember where I set it. Silly, I know, but it works for me. Happy Birthday!!!

September 25, 2009 at 8:58 amSo cute — and they would be so amazing in a dollhouse! I had a Victorian style dollhouse my mom made for me when I was 6 and I love it to death (fairly literally…it is, alas, pretty beat up these days).
Kate
September 25, 2009 at 9:12 amI have these too! They are ADORABLE! I bought some of those cube wall shelves and made a formation with them on the wall so they are like little rooms for the chairs…I even used sample FLOR tiles as area rugs! My house is tiny and so is my furniture budget, but with these mini chairs I can have them all and have room for them all!!!!

September 25, 2009 at 9:54 amjust adorable! What a good husband you have. I have to add these to my Christmas list.

September 25, 2009 at 12:07 pmWhere did you get these? I see readers have left comments saying they cost only $5 (from Japan) or $25. Everything I find online is the real thing from Vitra and they are are like $200 a piece! I am dying to know where you can find them at a reasonable price!!!! Thanks!

September 25, 2009 at 10:20 pmAhh. Just remembered what the dollhouse was. It was the Bozart Kaleidoscope House. It would be so much fun to fill it with mini mc chairs. :)

September 26, 2009 at 10:41 amAbsolutely adorable. I had seen someone’s miniature chair collection on Antique Roadshow once and I’ve never forgotten it. I think at one time the MOMA carried replicas.

September 30, 2009 at 10:45 amNicole, have you seen the Jonathan Adler-inspired dollhouse on flickr? It’s crazy good!

Your husband is a great gift giver! I had this boyfriend whose mom collected Madame Alexander dolls, and I said I liked them to be polite, and thus, for every occasion after that he gave me one. Needless to say, the relationship didn’t work out ;) (nothing against the dolls, they just aren’t me; I’d much rather have your chairs!).

September 30, 2009 at 12:20 pmHappy Birthday!
I just have to say these are the sweetest little gifts I ever saw! And the greatest way to collect these classics for not a huge amount of money (or space taken up… ) !

A Dollhouse Made Lovely | Making it Lovely
December 15, 2011 at 5:13 pm[…] It was my big furniture splurge in the dollhouse. The white wire chair is an ornament from CB2, and I already owned the mini Barcelona chair. The tea cart was a gift from Cassandra (thanks!). The gold folding screen and knitting accessories […]

October 22, 2012 at 12:46 amhello
I just love the doll house that you made, it’s so lovely and I would love to do the same for my two little one’s. In the photo of all your tiny chairs you have two red one’s. But in the dollhouse they look pink. Are they pink or red? I would like to find the same if I could.
And if you have any info for a new be that could help, it would be great.
Also i love the pink bathroom but can’t find it anywhere one ebay. Do you think they still make them?
Hope you can help Nancy.
