I tried to resist. I really did. I didn’t want to set Eleanor up for a lifetime of elephant gifts (or worse an unfortunate alliterative nickname), as cute as the pachyderms may be. Then I saw these little guys and they were only $6.

As someone with an “E” name, I recommend teaching Eleanor A LOT of different words that start with the letter E.
I remember playing name games in grade school and dreading having to take my turn, since the only word I could ever think of that began with the letter E was elephant. Ahhh the tragic life of a 6 year old. :)
Story of my life, but with penguins. But since I loved them anyway (or was trained to love them), I didn’t mind.
Those are darling. I can’t resist giraffes, but my son (now 22 months) loves bunny rabbits, and trains. So now everything is either a bunny or a train.
Adorable! I purchased similar ones from World Market for my niece. One caveat – the ones I purchased had a warning label about not being suitable for children due to small pieces coming off – so my niece’s are hung out of reach until she is past the “everything into her mouth” stage. :-)

My husband’s Grandma Ele (also Eleanor) gave small plush elephants to each of her sixteen grandchildren when they were born. I always thought that was the sweetest thing.

New to your blog. I love it! I’m just moving my daughter’s room around now that she’s out of her crib. These are too cute although I think I should maybe slow down a bit.
As an Eleanor who LOVES elephants, I don’t think a lifetime of themed gifts is necessarily a bad thing! Who knows, she might thank you one day. Really cute garland :)

My sister is an “Ellie” and she’s always embraced her name association with elephants, but as someone who once told a grandparent that I liked the color purple, and then received purple gifts from all sorts of relatives for the following ten years or so, I think it’s wise not to pigeonhole your kid too soon!
Those are too cute. There are a lot of things worse than elephants.

In Thai culture, elephants have to be facing outward because they bring you protection and luck. I guess you could say it’s our version of feng shui :)

I’ve decorated our nursery based off the bedding and there’s a distinct owl theme. My husband insists I’ve now cursed our baby with getting nothing but owl related stuff for the rest of her life. So far there have only been a few baby gifts that were owl related
Elephants are personally my favorite and I still have a eclectic collection up in our bedroom.

When I was small my mom made me a floral-bodied stuffed animal called Ellie the Elegant Elephant. She looked a lot like this.
