Eleanor loves taking baths in our big blue tub, but we worry when her head gets too close to the spout. We needed a cover, and we figured we may as well try to find one that looked good. After all, there isn’t anything we can do about that surrounding tile and bad grout job (short of a full reno), but at least we can have something cute to distract us from it.
The Moby bath spout cover matches our tub perfectly, and it’s pretty darn adorable. Oh, but I should say it’s not the only cute thing in there to distract us… Especially when Eleanor makes her little scrunchy face.

June 17, 2010 at 2:24 pmYou have a blue tub!! I love it. And I love that the whale matches. Do you think you need an adorable baby to get one of these adorable whales – cause I want one!
Though you’re right, it’s second to that adorably squishy face!

June 17, 2010 at 2:25 pmWhat a great idea! The colors match perfectly! Oh and Eleanor is just the sweetest!!! Her face is precious!

June 17, 2010 at 2:34 pmThat is so cute… I agree with Christine though, I don’t have kids and I still want one of these for my tub!

June 17, 2010 at 2:36 pmThat is a stink-eye I believe.

June 17, 2010 at 2:40 pmI love the blue tub!
A tube of caulking might help cover up the nastyness where the tub meets the tile. I was totally grossed out by our bath until my boyfriend redid the caulk one Sunday afternoon. It makes a world of difference and was very easy to do.

June 17, 2010 at 2:40 pmOh my goodness! How cute is she!! I love it!!

June 17, 2010 at 2:56 pmBeen debating on whether or not to get the Moby sprout cover. It looks really cute, but of course not as cute as that scrunchy face :)

June 17, 2010 at 3:12 pmWhat a cutie-face.
My youngest is six– would it be weird to get one of these? It’s adorable.

June 17, 2010 at 3:13 pmSoooo stinkin’ cute! Ahh I love the Moby and sweet Eleanor! Perfect photo moment! Does Moby’s arms flap? That is just to precious.

June 17, 2010 at 3:25 pmLove it! Growing up, my sister and I had one of these in the form of a styrofoam roll with a polar bear head on the end. Not nearly as cute as the Moby! Now, if I only had a little-one so it wouldn’t be weird to get this for my tub…

June 17, 2010 at 3:35 pmcutie pie! I have been eyeing the moby for my daughter, do you think it would work on a spout without the pull up for the shower?
Leah
June 17, 2010 at 3:45 pmSo cute!

June 17, 2010 at 3:49 pmLast night while I was giving my boys a bath, Luca hit the spout with his nose. He got a bad boo boo, blood and all. How timely that you would post this today. I’m getting it!
Amanda
June 17, 2010 at 3:57 pmWhat a cutie! Kiss her a thousand times a day!
Jessica
June 17, 2010 at 3:58 pmOh dear, I don’t think I’d ever seen pictures of your bathtub before. Ick! The moby definitely helps take some of the focus off of the tile. Are there are any plans for a future update to the bathroom?

June 17, 2010 at 4:39 pmI SO wish I had seen this post a month ago because I bought a Dora the Explorer spout cover that drives me bonkers! It doesn’t fit, but I can’t return it because my little dear won’t part with it now. Also, what an adorable baby you have!

June 17, 2010 at 4:52 pmThat is super cute :)

June 17, 2010 at 5:15 pmI literally just bought the whale this week and put on our spout. My little guy liked it!

June 17, 2010 at 5:53 pmAdorable! Around our house we call that “stink-face”!

June 17, 2010 at 6:19 pmOh my goodness, that face is the best. I have a scar under my chin from a bathtub spout, I’m glad Eleanor won’t have one to match!
Jessica J
June 17, 2010 at 6:45 pmLook at how cute she is! We had that same cover for our daughter but had the same problem a lot of the reviews said which was that it didn’t fit our spout type. :( We could put it on but it wouldn’t tighten enough so she could easily pull it off….but it was cut while it lasted. :)

June 17, 2010 at 7:05 pmScrunchy face!

June 17, 2010 at 8:10 pmThat face is the sweetest thing…one to make bad days great!
Jessica
June 17, 2010 at 8:18 pmOk that face is the most adorable thing in the post but the whale is pretty cool. We have some strange faucet in our tub and I have bought like three covers to try to keep my little from hitting her head- maybe I will try this- it is the cutest- also I adore the blue tub!

June 17, 2010 at 10:04 pmLove the baby and the whale! If you really can’t stand the color of the tub or tiles, an affordable solution can be had without full remodel. We had a tub that we thought we would need to get rid of. Instead, we had it re-glazed. It cost $250 and looks brand new. I’m thinking the tiles could be done too, but, we re-did those ourselves.
I don’t want to give unsolicited advice, but, I have followed your blog forever and didn’t know if this was available to you. Granted, you might totally be in love with the tub and tile, and therefore, should completely disregard all that I said expect for the part about the cute baby and whale.

June 17, 2010 at 10:10 pmI love that faucet cover! I actually just ordered a much uglier one yesterday. We’re having a hard time finding one that will fit our faucet properly since the shower diverter is in the front. Glad someone else got to enjoy that cute whale!!

June 17, 2010 at 11:21 pmVery cute! Both the baby and the whale. We have the yellow duckie cover, which my twenty-month-old daughter sometimes takes off and hugs. She loves her duckies. I bought one of the giant rubber duckies years ago before I was married because I thought it was cute, and now Homer is one of her favorite toys. She hugs him too, and will stick his head under the water and say “um, um, um, um…eatin!” Aurora’s seen the ducks and geese and swans at the park eating in the lake many times, so I guess that’s where she got it from.

June 17, 2010 at 11:28 pmI’m dying! Her face is just too cute! The whale’s not half bad either hehe

June 17, 2010 at 11:37 pmBTW, I love your blue tub. Embrace the colored bath fixtures! OK, the tile is awful, but I’d keep the blue tub and put up new tile. I wish I had blue in my downstairs bath, instead of white with gray tiles. The gray is so boring and depressing. That’s the original 1954 bath in our house. There’s a yellow 1962 bath upstairs that I adore.

June 18, 2010 at 12:20 amHow lovely the spout cover and the matching colour of bath tub it is !! Gorgeous!!!!

June 18, 2010 at 7:31 amI love that you’re showing us your ugly tile. I read so many decorating blogs that I sometimes develop the warped perception that everyone else’s homes are beautiful and perfect. You don’t have to dig yourself into a pile of debt making everything perfect the moment you move in.
Your downstairs bathroom redo of mostly paint and accessories inspired me to paint and accessorize my much-hated bathroom with wonderful results. I used to hate going in there. Now, I love it. It reminded me that you don’t always have to knock down walls, re-floor or change fixtures to make a place more attractive.

June 18, 2010 at 8:50 amSo fun! We have the same blue tub at our cabin.
Kelly Sue
June 18, 2010 at 9:27 amWe have the same spout cover and while it’s cute, it won’t stay put for us. Tighten it as much as you like, it constantly falls off. (And when it doesn’t *fall* off, our son–who’s a good bit older than your daughter, granted–pulls it off to play with his other bathtoys.)
I’ve been very disappointed with it.
The Boon Flo (which we have in our other bathroom) isn’t nearly as cute, but it stays in place.

June 18, 2010 at 9:30 amAhh–I just noticed you have the pull plug on top! I bet that keeps the whale in place. Our tub is a tub only–no shower, no pull plug.

June 20, 2010 at 1:05 amDarling!
One thing I did when my girls were E’s size was to put the IKEA babybath, which is quite generous and deep, into the tub. Then she was more centered in the bath, and I was able to use less water, filling only the babybath.

June 21, 2010 at 11:08 amExtreme cuteness aside…
I have seen several how-to articles on reglazing bathroom tile. I think your blue tub would look lovely with some fresh white tile to go with it. Might be worth looking into.

June 23, 2010 at 12:51 pmOh how adorable. I got a little Octopus where the water comes out of the four tentacles (the other four are all curled up.) The only problem with mine is that there was no hole in the top for the shower knob. A little surgery with a knife fixed it. The adorable Octopus is from Crayola, and they had little water color fizzers with it. Too cute.

Quick and easy fix for your tub & tile issues. We used it at our old house, it woked wonderfully. Much cheaper than ripping it out. Good luck!
