Hand-Embroidered Destination Pillows

Yeah, these are awesome. The three pillows above work for my little spot on the globe, but there are tons of other destinations to choose from.

After my rant (even though most of the venom was tongue-firmly-in-cheek) I realized just how bratty I was being and went to visit them. So you were not taunting me but healing. thanks :)

  • You would like these pillows I’ve made using vintage style tea towels and napkins. They cost a lot less then the catstudio ones and I think they give the same affect. I hope to someday have them on etsy. They look pretty cute in my little 1948 trailer now.

Oh my goodness, perfect timing!! My brother and sis-in-law just finished an addition to their Adirondack cabin kitchen. The Adirondack dish towel will make a great little gift (can’t afford the pillow!)

I have had a crush on these pillows for a while :). So cute.

We’ve been collecting the glasses for the past few years. Found them on a few road trips, we’ve got Great Lakes, Chicago, and our home state of Michigan.

Hand-embroidered by…? I went to their website and couldn’t find a thing about the artisans… Who is spending a week embroidering each of these pillows? Connecting the artisans using fair trade principles is so important and I don’t see that happening if they don’t disclose a thing on their website. Sad, really.

  • These are so neat!! I would love a whole collection of them!

    @Kaye any evidence?

  • Oh, I love these pillows! I live in Napa, and during a date night in St. Helena, I saw the Napa one and just had to have it. Love!

  • I hate to say it, but I believe these are “hand-embroidered” by Asian children making 50 cents per hour.

  • I love these. We have 3 in our playroom, and they’re such a great reminder/souvenir of fun trips we’ve taken. They ARE expensive, but we spread the cost out over various trips, so it wasn’t such a hit.

  • I’m in love with these, I would love a New Jersey one! xo

  • I have a few of these pillows, and they are expensive, but so much fun!

These are totally awesome, but yowza, $150 for a decorative pillow is a bit much.

  • Ah I’m obsessed… but $150 for a San Diego or California pillow is a tid bit much. Oh welll, a girl can dream

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • i’ve been obsessed with these pillows for years. they used to always carry them in the museum of fine arts boston catalog, which was, like, my wish book when i was in high school and college! ;)

  • My husband sleeps in the guest room most of the time due to his snoring. I bought a pillow with his home state on it to make the room more “his”. Since those pillows don’t really go with my decore, I thought the guest room was the perfect place for it.

  • I just saw these at a local store here in Austin. I thought they were great, too!

I have loved these pillows for a couple of years, but I can’t bring myself to fork over the money for them – especially b/c I don’t have a place in my house where they fit in (at least not right now – maybe I could use them when I redo our guest room this winter)….

  • I’ve been dying to get one of these for NOLA for years. I noticed last week that they have glasses with the designs printed on them too for just $12!

If anyone’s looking for *super* cheap *printable* destination posters, I sell them for just $20 in my etsy shop. I also have premade posters for just $5 and $15.

haha, sorry I didn’t mean to repeat that last statement, it wasn’t like a Scorcese-esque build up, just a mis-type.

Gah, it is like you are taunting me today. I requested one of these a few years ago when some family asked what I wanted in return for dog sitting their miserable dog. (my shade garden still hasn’t recovered, perennials still show the effects)
Instead they brought me a box of salt water taffy and doggy clean-up bags from the christmas tree (read: dollar)store. The excuse was that these were “ugly.” This was said in full view of a kitchen decorated with at least one other towel by catstudio. Fast forward to this spring when at their house what do I spy but one of the pillows on display in a living room chair! The excuse was that one of the children (also on said trip) had bought it for mothers day for the person who claimed it was “ugly” two years ago!
ok whew, sorry about that, can you tell i’m a little bitter still?
