My birthday was on Saturday. I wouldn’t normally write a recap of what Brandon got for me (3 books, a Lego set, and a necklace), but he presented everything in such a sweet, clever way that I wanted to share. The gifts were numbered, to be opened in order, and he created a little booklet of explanations to go along with each. This is what he wrote.

your hubby is kinda awesome
Happy Birthday belated Nicole! I loved all your gifts. WOW your husband is so thoughtful and sweet! You are incredibly lucky!
If you didn’t tear up, no worries-I just did it for you. :)
awwww, how sweet. Happy belated birthday!
I have to say, that is overall the best present I’ve heard of in a while. You’re pretty lucky too Nicole!
This is the sweetest. I love thoughtful gifts, and I especially love when they demonstrate one partner’s genuine appreciation and love of the other. Thanks for sharing this with us — a good reminder of what love looks like.
Happy Birthday to you!!!
Thank you so much for making our day more lovely ♥
All the best for you ;)
That is SO sweet. Happy belated birthday! :)
I am pretty sure he should be giving lessons. And I know I would pay for them. ;-)
How sweet – and clever! Happy belated birthday!
awwwwwwwwwwwww!!! he has good taste too!
I definitely just emailed a link to this to my husband and said “In case you ever need any ideas”. So sweet!
Way to go, Brandon! I love thoughtful gifts like these. I’ve always been a pretty good gift-giver, but my husband always seems to do so much better. He not only finds things I love, but it’s usually even unexpected, which is amazing. I might even have to get the periodic elements book for him. He’d love it.
Oh that is sooo sweet! How wonderful to have a man that can express himself so well.
LOVE this!!!
Awww, how sweet! Happy Belated Birthday!
de-lurking to tell you happy birthday, from another mother of an August (I take it yours is always August, never Gus?) Putting the elements book on the xmas list for my 11 year old!
Nah, we call him Gus pretty often.
gotcha. I’d say we have about a 60/40 Gus/August split around here.
This is so darn sweet!! Happy (late) Birthday, Nicole!
Awwww…
Happy birthday! What a thoughtful gift. :) Men everywhere need to take notes.
Can Brandon please teach classes to other husbands on how to give a gift?
Happy Birthday!
Awwww, that is just the sweetest! Happy belated Birthday.
Happy Birthday! Those are some sweet gifts and you have an even sweeter life partner :)
Happy belated bday! You are one lucky girl w/ the best gift being your hubby. I think he needs to start a blog to give other hubbies lessons on how to make their wives feel special. Seriously!
They make Architecture Lego sets?!
How sweet and thoughtful!
Happy belated Birthday! :)
I want a Brandon!
Happy birthday, wishing you a beautiful year ahead! And what a sweet, sweet, thoughtful (and creative ) husband you have!
Awwww….. Brandon is very thoughtful. THAT is something that money can’t buy. Happy Birthday Nicole.
Happy belated birthday, Nicole! I know you will enjoy the Farnsworth House set! It was a neat place to visit and a sweet little reminder of my time there (my husband got the Legos for me last year and I have it sitting in my office along with Lego Fallingwater). How sweet of your husband!
Wonderful gifts and wonderful gift-giving. Way to go, Brandon. And happy birthday, Nicole.

That is an amazingly thoughtful gift. You are a lucky woman.
Oh man, that is sooooo cute -there’s nothing better than a thoughtful guy … I think I’m gonna leave this post open on my computer so my hubby will find it (wink wink)!!!
Happy B-day! Wow- you really have a keeper there!
Well, he’s a keeper, isn’t he? ;) (And, we bought the Farnsworth House Lego on the weekend too!)
Awwww!!!! He is one sweet husband.
Aww what a sweet and clever presentation of some really special gifts. Thanks for sharing this piece of your home life with us. And happy belated birthday!
Gosh, I think he likes you … probably, you should marry him :) Sweet.
How sweet is he?! Feliz cumpleaños!
Hold on. Let me imagine my husband putting in the same effort.
Hahahhahahahahahahaaa!!!
Nah.
And with that, your husband wrote the handbook for how to give loving gifts that will make your wife fall in love all over again! Delightful. xo
