Our Dresses for My Sister’s Wedding

My sister, Ashley, is getting married in September! She found her wedding dress months ago, and it’s beautiful. Ivory with lace and a little beading, gorgeous details down the back, and just a bit of a train. Completely different (much more formal) than what she thought she was going to choose, but when she put it on, her face lit up. It was the dress.

I’ll be the matron of honor (yay!), and Eleanor will be a flower girl. We went with Ashley, my youngest sister (Francesca, also a bridesmaid), my mom, and Calvin to BHLDN and the Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue over the weekend to look for our dresses. A girls’ day out (plus bonus baby boy).

Brandon and August will also be in the wedding party (Calvin is too little), but my sister hasn’t decided what the guys are wearing yet. The ladies though — she’s got that down! Each bridesmaid will be wearing a floor-length chiffon dress, and we’re free to choose the style we like best, and even the color from within her palette. (Pink was an option, so that’s why I’m going with because of course I am.) I’d had my eye on a specific Jenny Yoo dress, and it did not disappoint! I’m on the lookout now for a dress for Eleanor. I’ve ordered this one, but if it’s too big we’ll likely go with this instead.

We still have plenty of time to choose the accessories and Ashley hasn’t made a final decision yet on some of those details, but this is the general look that me and miss E will be wearing!

Beautiful dress choices. So dreamy looking & romantic. Colors are lovely. So nice. This is going to be a super special wedding! With your children being in the “party” …. for sure, an event they will never forget. I was a flower girl at my aunt’s wedding. Still remember it. Our cute dresses were blue chiffon that had bow ties at the shoulders!

Ah I suppose that sentence could have been read that way. Francesca is the other sister I was referring to!

Such a lovely name! Here in Italy its male counterpart (Francesco) has been all the rage for baby boys for the last 3/4 years. Congratulations to the bride! And kudos for your dress, so timeless and elegant.

It’s just the placement of the parenthesis that makes it confusing. Francesca’s name doesn’t need to be inside there, just the bridesmaid part.

I have a 6 year old son and we ( my sister, for her 5 year old son) just ordered our boys suits from next direct for our brothers wedding. They are perfect! I am so happy with it! I definitely recommend checking out their website for boys stuff.

I wore the same Jenny Yoo dress in the same color for my brother’s wedding and loved it. Thought it was flattering and comfortable can’t do better than that!

So fun! My brother got married in NYC in November (the first of all of us to get married), and it was a blast.

Love the dresses. LOVE those heels.

Anthropologie was genius for getting into the wedding business — they make really lovely and romantic dresses and compared to the rest of the bridal industry, their prices actually seem reasonable! (I shudder to think at what I’ve spent on beastly, flammable looking dresses at David’s Bridal).

Looks like your sister will have a pretty fantastic looking wedding party!
