    Teal for the Win

We went out last week as a family to check out the two sofas I was considering. Brandon liked the shape of the blue one considerably more, so that’s the winner. It still hasn’t shown up on Anthropologie’s site, but it’s the Winifred Sofa in teal. The upholstery color is nearly identical to the fabric on this sofa, but with more slubs and variation. Here it is in crazy-town fabric, and in an even longer length.

That photo above is an excellent example of a double parlor, by the way. That furniture layout is actually pretty similar to what I’ve been considering for the new house, but picture windows behind the sofa instead of a doorway.

I was still thinking about taking the gamble and waiting to score a floor model, especially with there being two stores with the sofa in the area. There was candle wax on the one at Oakbrook though, so that brought the odds of success for scoring one in like-new condition down by half. The store was still having its furniture sale through last Sunday, so I went ahead and bought it. It will be our biggest furniture purchase.

    Mano Storage Jars

    • Maybe the finishing touches to my kitchen are among these? (I’m looking at you, Mano storage jars, you cute little things you.)

    • I came across this cute line of lingerie, and liked the retro look of it. Turns out, they’re trying to solve a… shall we say ‘delicate’ situation?

    • My desk is perfectly fine, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about redecorating with these.

    • Stop talking. (That print cracks me up, big time.)

    Our House, but Better

It’s much better than the current look, don’t you think? Here’s a detail:

In case anyone’s feeling creative/bored, you can download a file for the mockup. Feel free to play around with it… I loved seeing what everyone came up with last time!

    Home Cute Home (Again)

Last month, I wrote about pve design and showed the illustration of my home that Patricia had done. Well, I’ve been meaning to follow up because when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was even more beautiful in person!

Careful attention had been paid to the packaging too.

    Isn’t it lovely?

    Home Cute Home

Brandon and I have put a lot of work into our home, but the outside has been a little left out. We had spruced up our porch, but not much else.

There are no bushes, no flowers, no landscaping of any kind. The only plant life out front was a little tree sapling. We bought the house in the winter and the photo from the house listing showed the tree with leaves on it, so we waited and waited all throughout the spring and summer for it to show signs of life. Nothing. Which of course meant leaving a dead tree out front as our only form of ‘greenery’ until we chopped it down in the fall. Nice.

When Patricia van Essche of pve design introduced herself, I was really excited about the idea of having a sketch of my home. Then I remembered what our house looks like. Luckily, a little artistic license goes a long way.

Ooh, my house looks cute! Look! Greenery!

Also, can I just tell you how much I love Patricia’s photo? Brilliant.

She also has a blog, and is an all around amazing and creative woman. You can contact her here if you’re interested in commissioning an illustration of your own.
