    The Bedroom, Dressed in White

One nice thing about sleeping my days away lately (pregnancy makes you tired)… when I wake up the room is so light and bright.

    Our Bedroom

With a house full of pattern and color, it’s refreshing to have a calm oasis in the bedroom. We already had white curtains that weren’t being used anywhere, and I bought all of the white bedding (a duvet set, sheet set, and two extra pillowcases) at IKEA for less than $75. The duvet cover isn’t as textured as the pin-tuck set I had wanted, but it was a much more affordable option.

I bought the west elm rug a while back when it was on sale, and I’m so glad I did. It’s so soft and perfect.

I’m sure I’ll end up mixing pattern and color in again eventually, but right now I’m loving my bedroom all dressed in white.

    The Bedroom… Lightened and Brightened

Our bedroom is fine. Lovely in fact. I really shouldn’t go mucking about. It looks like this:

Which, when broken down, looks like this:

I don’t know what it is lately though — I’ve been really drawn to soft sweater textures and pale colors. Brandon thinks I’m nesting, and he may be right because I’m nearly obsessed. I want a light, soft rug. I want textured bedding in shades of cream and white. I want white linen curtains. I don’t want color and pattern right now. This is what I want the bedroom to look like…

Um, and that rug just went on sale. Tempted.

    The Striped Rug

    What do you think?

Striped Rug in the Dining Room

The dining room is so jumbled right now. The fabric in the hutch, the different colored walls, one zigzag chair, roman shades that don’t match anything else, PLUS the new black and white rug. All false starts with no follow through.

I like the way the rug adds pattern, and it brings in a dark color without making the whole room dark. It is the only room in the house that has black though, which is a little strange to me. I don’t know if it’s out of place or if I just need to get used to it.

If I keep the rug, here’s what I’m thinking… I’d switch out the chair fabric for a different solid (pink? orange? lilac?), and paint the ceiling and walls above the picture rail the same color. The main walls would be cream or grey. Curtains could be creamy white with trim to tie in to the chair fabric. Whatever fabric I use for the curtain trim could also go in the hutch.

The zigzag chair and the rug don’t work together, though I was hoping they would. It’s one or the other, but I’m not sure which…
