ZOMG, pants!

Occasionally, maybe ten times a year, I do wear them. And I would definitely wear these cute white pants, so I put together a casual little style post featuring them. I’m also completely in love with that necklace by spinthread (seen here on Erin), so I had to include that as well. The open collar of the shirt would show it off nicely, orange shoes would be cute peeking out from beneath the pants, and I like the mix of bright white with the ivory color of the bag.

p.s. This outfit would also look mighty fine with a white skirt and brown knee-high riding boots. I’m just sayin’.

Style: December ’09

Can you believe we’re more than halfway through December already? Whew! The shop has been keeping me so busy (thank you), I hadn’t had time to put together my monthly style post until now.

I’ve been feeling so frumpy lately. I’m not walking around in sweat pants and t-shirt freebies or anything, but I’ve still been feeling a bit blah. Therefore, we have bows! Ruffles! Flowers! Pretty Shoes!* Yummy color! Unabashed femininity!

*My apologies for picking a shoe that’s almost sold out, but it also comes in a lovely mushroom color and they’re on clearance for about $30 (score).

This is going to be my guiding principle for the holidays:

Style: November ’09

I’m so glad the cooler weather has finally arrived! Time for tights and a big comfy sweater. I’d go with a shimmery tank underneath (or a nursing tank for now) and a denim pencil skirt. Add some t-strap flats (only $28!) and a bag, sparkly earrings and some simple bracelets, and you’ve got a cute and cozy outfit.

That gorgeous necklace is huge and definitely makes a statement all on its own, and I have a little crush on those cute oxfords, so I put together this month’s style post around those two items. A classically pretty dress and simple tote bag are good foundation pieces for the outfit, and a hammered gold ring compliments the necklace without clashing.

MiY 3a: Girly Apartment

It’s about time for another round of Making it Yours (MiY), don’t you think? MiY explores ways to use stylish investment pieces for the home while keeping up with changing lives and changing tastes. In this third edition, I’ll be focusing on the ever popular Madeline Weinrib Zig Zag Rug. It will start out in the home of a young woman who has just splurged on the rug (it’s the most expensive thing in her apartment!), then make its way with her through several changes of residence.

Nothing here is extraordinarily expensive, but our young apartment-dweller is starting to gather some nice things for her living/dining space. IKEA’s Karlstad with a green slipcover is a great sofa for only $499, and the hot pink chair is a fun addition to the room. Wicker chairs keep things light and airy, and the tee pee dining table is a piece that will be loved for many years to come. The pink lamp is a steal at just $49 (on sale), and it would look great on a substantial white blocky table. White wall flowers and a pink print dress the walls, and a cute pillow sits on the sofa.

Next up, we’ll see the rug move into the bedroom.

Style: September ’09

I am in love with this broadway fuschia dress. Gorgeous color, lovely shape, and darling button details. Actually I’d like that dress, and maybe about a dozen more from Shabby Apple — there are so many good ones there!

I have a thing for gold shoes and bracelets covered in baubles. And I’d carry a pretty bag like this truffle bag in lilac with a surprise inside… a little copper piggy!
