Instagram post 17856687460618058 Pillow covers from 2016 that I bought on clearance (because I loved the pattern so much) are finally finding their calling! I’ve taken them apart, matched up the pieces as best I could, and I’m turning the panels into Roman shades for Calvin’s room. 💚

I was motivated by a need to transform Christmas decorations into January baby shower decor, but I liked it so much I might do something similar this year! I was thinking of looking for a beautiful peachy blush velvet ribbon. Or maybe a more saturated mustard/ochre velvet? 🎀 #thelovelyvictorian
Instagram post 17846450677744760 Gus and Calvin both want in on the room makeover action now. We just did Gus’ room two years ago (which I’m sure feels like a long time to an eight-year-old), but Calvin’s isn’t much different from when he was a baby. He’s five now, so the crib was replaced by a bed years ago and the glider was sold after we decided that Cal would be our last baby. The rug stayed, the white walls have remained, and his toys have multiplied. I hung a couple of low shelves for him and I’m working on sewing Roman shades now that I’m an EXPERT. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Calvin is my most vocal supporter and constant design assistant, and he’s happy to be getting a few updates. And you know I’ve already started scheming up bigger changes ahead for him. ❤️ #thelovelyvictorian

Instagram post 18111648409053201 It’s One Room Challenge reveal day! 🎉 You know I love pink, but this purplish-pink color is outside of my comfort zone. We were going to do light blue walls until a last-minute change of plans from Eleanor and now it’s kind of extraordinary! The room is very much my 10-year-old kid in 2019, but also looks very at home in our 1891 Victorian home. . I hope you’ve enjoyed watching this come together as much as we enjoyed working on it as a mother-daughter design duo. ❤️ Thank you to the @oneroomchallenge for inviting me to participate again! Instagram post 18078737506089102 I’ve wanted to use that bottom right pattern for years. (Edie, c/o @fabricut.) I finally got my chance with Eleanor’s room for the #oneroomchallenge and I made my first ever functional roman shades. So much work (I’m slow when it comes to sewing), but they look amazing! I saved the process to my Stories, so take a look if you’d like to see how it went. ❤️
