Working, Feeling Disjointed

I feel like I’m going in a million different directions sometimes.

Around the house, I have my garden that needs daily watering. I want to reupholster the dining chairs, paint the dining room ceiling, and hang wallpaper. I might move the rug that’s in the living room to the dining room, or maybe into the bedroom. And I want new bedding, all white, but I’m feeling too miserly to spring for it.

Working…

Right now for the shop, I’m filling orders (along with my assistant who’s here on Thursdays and was late today, grrr), ordering labels for packaging, finishing up some new bookplates so that I can have them printed, ordering more paper suitcases, and developing a business plan for a loan. For the blog, I have a dining room mockup that I did for fun, a living room that I’m working on for Jules, and the beginning of my business posts that I’ve been planning for months. And I’m going to start scheduling and taking on just a few new clients over at Smart & Lovely now too. I have a lot of inquiries that I have yet to respond to, so I really need to get on that.

Am I the only one that feels overwhelmed by a constant daily stream of email? I love hearing from people – I really do – but my inbox is overflowing.

I’m not one for clichés and quotes, but there is a trio of them that I try to remember and act on.

A good idea today is better than a perfect idea tomorrow.

Don’t let best get in the way of better.

Done is better than perfect.

Easier said than done for this perfectionist.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

I’m enjoying this very much.

Another Little Garden

You know how I said that I wanted a little garden around the patio? But that I was too exhausted to do it, and that it could wait? Yeah. I changed my mind.

Another Little Garden

My neighbor offered some of her phlox, so I happily took some. I thought she was going to give me just a couple of stems (which would have been very sweet), but she offered a whole big bunch of it! It’s looking a bit wilted right now, but hopefully it will spring back up. I picked up some more coneflowers and coreopsis too. I have no idea if it’s too late to be planting all of these things, so hopefully the garden will be all right.

Everyday with Rachael Ray

How exciting! My Periodic Table of Sentiments New Baby card is featured in the August ’08 issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray.

Thank you, Everyday with Rachael Ray!

The Patio Furniture

Here’s the furniture we used for our new patio.

The Patio Furniture

The white planters I have were from CB2, but I bought them last year and they’re not available anymore. The Retro Bullet Planters at Velocity are similar (and I actually like them better than the ones I have). The garden stool from Lowe’s isn’t on their website, but I just bought it so they’re probably still readily available. The Suzani Pillow is probably a bit too big for the Orbit Lounge Chairs, but I don’t care. I like the colors too much to not use it!

The table and chairs are gone for the year from IKEA, but I’m sure they’ll be back next spring (and they’re super inexpensive!). Brandon likes the wood as-is, but I’d like to paint it. Maybe red for the chairs, and hot pink for the table? Or mustard yellow? White?
