Red Hair

I did it! One item from my 30 Before Thirty list down, 29 to go.

Red Hair!

I had my hair dyed at a salon, but it was not without difficulty. My appointment consisted of hair dying, drying, washing, bleaching, washing, dying, drying, and finally done.

It’s a fun color though!

    Hey there,

Long time reader, first time commenter!! Red hair really suits you. I have fair skin and red hair aswell so I just thought I’d tell you that if your considering staying red for a while you should try using henna to get that gorge red color instead of chemical dyes. I recently discovered hennafor hair.com I’m not offiliated with them or anything, but theres lots of info on that site. Just thought I’d throw that out there for ya!

  • I read your blog all the time. Never left a comment though! I just read through your 30 by thirty list and we have a lot in common.

I absolutely love the modern wing, and live right in the loop! I’m also a photographer that’s willing to teach you how to shoot in manual mode, haha :)

Hair looks great, btw! Makes me miss my short hair.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get to the comments. Thanks for all of your kind words, everybody!

The necklace was a recent purchase from The Limited.

  • Nicole, please tell me that you will at some time let us know where that great necklace came from. I have looked at the responses to this post over and over hoping that the answer has been revealed. I’m a bit of a nut when I see something that I feel is so simply perfect. If you tell me someone bought it for you at a street vendor in Turkey, I might cry.

  • You’ve inspired me! I’ve always wanted to do this and always chicken out by just adding red highlights. I have to take the plunge. By the way, you look fantastic!!

  • I just love the color!

  • You look wonderful! So fierce!!

  • Jessie

Holy crap it looks amazing! I’ve always wanted red hair but my stylist thinks it’ll look weird on me (considering I’m Asian). I’m so jealous. Might have to forward this to him and do some more convincing. Let us know how the upkeep is!

  • steph

this colour looks wonderful on you!
its so bright, fun and young.
    looks great.
    :)

  • This looks fabulous on you – you have the skintone to carry off this brighter warmer tone.

I went from brunette to red myself a few weeks ago (I’m naturally blonde) and it took 5 hours! Two rounds of bleaching, one of color and another of toner (plus all the washing and drying in between). I have pictures of me mid-bleach and holy hell do I look silly. :D My shade is much deeper and ruddier than yours but I have a very different skintone. I feel like I’ve finally found my true color and I’m planning to stick with red for a very long time.

Enjoy your new look – it looks fantastic. Cheers!

  • oh it looks soooooo good. i am majorly jealous.

  • Fabulous! Being a redhead is fun, enjoy it!

And from one redhead to another, have you found http://www.WeAllSew.com yet? Free sewing projects, tutorials, and a great page full of charity organizations looking for volunteer help from sewers!

  • When I was in my 30s I did the red thing for several years. All different shades of red. I liked it at the time, but now I prefer something natural, less maintenance, etc. I think it’s fun for awhile, but not long term. I prefer a more true red or auburn – to me, this is a bit orangey. You look good, but I think another shade could be more flattering. I still liked your brown hair best. Sorry. And, yes I have brown hair. But, I’m not biased. I was blonde in my 20s, red in my 30s and now brunette in my 40s. Change is good regardless.

  • it looks fabulous!

  • ho-ly-cow. what a surprise.
eeeeemmmmm…. ok, obviously i´m the only one thinking that brown hair suits you better. 159:1 ;-)
this red makes you look a bit pale. or is it the photo?
but thumbs up for your courage and go for the other 29 things to to!

  • Holy cow! I love it!

  • It really suits you!!! But then again, I’m heavily biased. I’ve been a proud member of the redhead club since birth ;)

Seeing how cute your hair looks makes me wanna cart your picture into the salon for some stylin’. I haven’t had a haircut since we moved a year and a half ago – I’m scared to find a new stylist. I’ve had some really bad experiences with new hairdressers….*shudders*

I’m not a person who always has something nice to say. I keep my mouth shut a lot or at least my criticism to a minimum. But this time I cannot help myself…

This color is STELLAR. Go you for being brave. It’s lovely and it paid off in fabulousity points. Well done.

  • Allison

I Love it!!!! I think you look fabulous!

  • Tatyana

I remember my mom coloring my hair with Henna when I was in 5th grade. I loved having red hair. Ever since, when I tried coloring it red it ended up looking reddish-brown, I never thought I was supposed to have it bleached first – duh.
    You look great!
But, I was wondering – Where did you get that necklace?

  • Yay! Welcome to the club

  • Melisse

LOVE it! really fun and cute!

  • I went red and loved it. Very hard to maintain though, but something you should do at least once in your life. Super cute.

I normally HATE red hair like that. Where I live, women attempt this a lot, to no avail. However, you look STUNNING! That shade of red really looks amazing with your complexion!

  • LOVE it! Gorgeous!

  • Kristin

    Looks amazing! Great color choice!!

  • You look SO CUTE with red hair! I love it! Wish I was that brave. :) Best of luck to you in achieving the rest of your goals.

  • From one ginger to another (who cares if you’re just pretending)- welcome! So glad you went for RED! instead of auburn or something more cautious. As someone said above, it’s crazy that you’re not yet 30 for all you’ve done and your level of success! Your daughter is lucky to have such an inspiring mom. Congrats on the hair and crossing some things off of your to-do list!

  • I adore your hair…and I am so captivated by your blog, that I am having a really hard time getting any work done today!!
