This is What Our Bedroom Looks Like

I’ve been working with American Express to redo my bedroom. They provided me with a total of 300,000 Membership Rewards points.

Hello, dark and lovely bedroom.

Our Bedroom

Our Bedroom

Everything came together just as I hoped it would. The colors and patterns of the new bedding look great together, and our bed feels so soft with its new pillows and comforter.

The Edison Chandelier is amazing.

Our Bedroom

We do have our fears about Eleanor jumping on the bed or swinging a pillow and breaking the bulbs. We may need to revisit our lighting options in a few years, but right now we are absolutely loving the chandellier.

Our Bedroom

I like the little pop of red from our phone, and the yellow of the lacquered tray holding magazines by my side of the bed.

My Nightstand

My Nightstand

I really love the play between light and dark in the room. Sheer white shades, white curtains, and painted white trim all provide a nice balance to the zinc walls, gray rug, dark furniture, and the Jacobean bamboo flooring.

Our Bedroom

Our overflow of books has been contained by the new bookshelf.

Books in Our Bedroom

The bedroom is somewhat small and there is already a lot going on visually, so we wanted the new art to be subtle. I love the antiqued zinc finish against our ‘zinc’ wall color.

Hi! Can you please tell me where you purchased your nightstands? I think they would look great with the Ethan Allen Isabel headboard that I just purchased. Thanks in advance!

Yikes, I have this Edison Chandelier in my kitchen above the breakfast table. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!! I get so many compliments on how unique it is! You did great in choosing that for your house.

Wow, this looks absolutely amazing. Love the chandelier, the wall colour and the fabulous zink object. Wish my bedroom would look like this :)

I love the walls and ceiling in the same color. I’ve been contemplating that. I’m wondering if you do that in other rooms in your house. I’ll have to go back through posts with pics and pay more attention to that detail. :)

i am absolutely jealous that you got those striped sheets from West Elm! I ordered mine back in early May and they are supposedly going to ship next week – which is fine, because they’ll arrive just in time to put into my new apartment! the bedding combo looks great, though! I’m thinking of constructing a headboard with really graphic navy blue and white patterns and keeping the rest of the bedding simple with solid colors (chocolate brown down comforter, and purple gingham).

Love the bedding! Where is it from?! I think my fiance will love it for our new apartment!

Love the doors on the closet? Are they original or new? Would love to know where you got them…. thanks!

I love your bedroom! My husband and I just bought our first home and though we both love the rustic cottage theme that will be throughout, I must have my glamorous, retro bedroom and I look to pics like yours for inspiration. This is so cool, yet relaxing. Love what you have done!

Please do share where your sliding white closet doors came from. Those are EXACTLY what I need! Thank you!!

    • Making it Lovely April 11, 2011 at 11:29 am #

The closet doors were from The Home Depot. I think the brand was “Nu Porte.”

Your bedding and chandy are gorgeous! I also love the details of your antique zinc wall art, very nice find :)

OMG I adore your chandelier, I have been eyeing it off for ages! That or the Graumans ’85 Lamps’ chandelier… so tough!

I’ve been a reader for a little while now but somehow have never seen your bedroom. Imagine my surprise when I clicked on your home tour–I have the exact same green C&B comforter and WE striped sheets! I’ve paired them with Martha Stewart’s “Plumage” (deep teal) paint color on the walls and throw pillows with Robert Allen Khanjali Peacock fabric–it’s really interesting seeing just how different our two bedrooms look even though the major pieces are the same! Yours is very lovely :)

Hi! I love your gray color on your walls. Did you paint the ceiling the same color as the walls or is it a few shades lighter? I can’t tell. I want to paint my ceilings the same color as my walls so am looking up ideas and pictures.

  17. Reba December 5, 2012 at 10:17 am #

Also what is the name of the gray color?

  18. Alex December 7, 2012 at 1:19 am #

Hi! What is the name of the blue paint color on the wall?? I love this room and the paint colors:))

    • Making it Lovely December 7, 2012 at 1:23 am #

Thank you. It’s a warm gray though, not blue. Zinc, by Martha Stewart.

    No your accent wall

    • Making it Lovely December 7, 2012 at 9:28 am #

There is no accent wall. If you mean the closet doors, those are white.

  20. alex December 7, 2012 at 10:03 am #

HAHA oops sorry! i totally thought the wall with the window was a lighter blue color.

  21. Brittany March 15, 2013 at 7:31 pm #

I love your room. Where did you purchase your bed frame/headboard?

  22. Colleen June 25, 2013 at 6:47 am #

How long are your curtains above the bed? do they go right to the floor or are they shorter?

  23. Frank November 6, 2013 at 10:44 am #

Hi great color. What is the finish of your ceiling and walls. I’m doing a gray for my living room and dining room walls and ceiling in same color but can’t decide if I should paint the ceiling and walls in an eggshell since all my walls are eggshell now.
