I was putting this outfit together and thinking “hmm, this is a little dressier than I’ve been doing lately. Where would I wear this? It would be perfect for a speaking engagement, but when would I… oh, right! I’m speaking on a panel at Tech Week! This would be perfect for that.” And it would be, except for a little thing called shipping. I’m speaking this Saturday at 11am, and I don’t need anything badly enough to overnight it. And yes, I can go out and actually pick up these things, but not with a toddler and a baby in the middle of Chicago’s biggest heat wave in five years. Oh well, ’tis not meant to be.
The feminine top (with a cami underneath) would be cute with a colorful pencil skirt and heels. The black bangle and pink earrings are a nice contrast to the frilly top, and I like the unexpected green of the nail polish. And then the book clutch is just perfect.
So there you go. That’s what I would be wearing this Saturday had I planned ahead. (I have a perfectly fine dress that I’ll probably wear instead.)

I love that outfit, especially the earrings and the blouse. And I have never seen a book clutch, but adore it! Thanks for sharing!
LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is how I always wish I had presented myself.
I feel like I should add too that I have shoes that would work (no need to buy a new pair, though those above are cute). And the book clutch… yeah, I can’t justify it just for a single event. Pretty darn adorable though. #addittothewishlist
love those little earrings.
I’ve been in love with those Kate Spade book clutches forever. Have you seen the ones made by Olympia Le Tan?
Love this, Nicole! That green nail polish definitely makes the outfit! I’ll archive this one! :-)
I need more pencil skirts in my life.
LUV IT! :)
Another home run!
oooo is the nailpolish actually that color once you get it on? it’s lovely
Cute, Cute, Cute. I’m another one who loves the earings. I especially like the balance of the formality of the pencil skirt with the more casual blouse.
Such a great outfit! Good luck at the speaking engagement!
Can I just say how happy I am that colored nail polish is coming back? My nails enjoy being teal. Your light green is next on my list.
I know. I love colored nail polish.
Thanks so much for including my pink dots. Best of luck with your talk. I’m sure your dress will be lovely!
The thing I love the most in this outfit is surely the color of the skirt! <3
