I liked that crazy necklace when I first saw it online, but I want it even more now that I’ve tried it on and seen the scale of it. It’s massive, and kooky, and it looked so good with the outfit I was wearing that day! I snapped a quick photo with my phone, and I’m kind of recreating the outfit here.

You look super cute! Love the tights and dress!
That necklace is fantastic!
I always love these posts because you help me find something I’ve been looking for each time. I have been looking for that exact coral/pink shade of tights and now I’m about purchase them on Nordstrom.com. Thanks!
Ohhh I love the red dress/pink tights combination!
Super cute and quirky! I’m not much of an accessories person. Love them on other people, but always feel like I’m trying too hard if it’s on me. (I think it’s the town I live in! The people here are jeans and t-shirt kind of people, and they look at you weird if you wear anything “different”!)
The red dress is spectacular! Wish it wasn’t $160, though.
I love your tights and dress! Also, that little bow ring is darling.
I’m officially in love with that dress! I’m in the process of losing weight and I think I may have found my goal dress :) Great style post!
This is a beautiful look! I love the bow bracelet, and the necklace does seem pretty chic! The baby pink tights are very nice too. I love this idea of posting a monthly style. You just inspired me, and I’m gonna try to do it too (I hope you don’t mind^-`). Thanks!!!
Nicole, what color is your dress from Target? I have the same one in burnt orange. I didn’t think they had a red version.
As for the Banana Republic boots: I had them, wore them twice. Didn’t like how the zipper didn’t go all the way up (at the time I only wore jeans and it’s hard to tuck them in) and then gave them to a neighbor. Now that I wear dresses more often, I wish I had them back. :(
Great style post as usual.
The dress is orange, it just looks a little more red in the photo. I did pick a red dress for the alternative, so that’s probably confusing.
And I actually like that my boots don’t zip up all the way! I think they look a little more polished, and since I almost always wear dresses, it’s never an issue for me.
Thanks for the quick response. You’ve given me another option in how to wear the orange dress I have.
By the way… your post from few years back about your goal of being more feminine inspired me to wear more skirts and dresses – thank you!
So cute in that Red dress of yours! I love those boots too.
wow, such a great outfit, love the colors!
I have a question for all the dress and tights wearing people: how do you get your dress to not stick to your tights when you walk? This is such a problem for me. I’m an average sized person (5’10”, 135#) and wear a slip when I wear skirts or dresses in the Winter, but even the little 1/2 inch of dress below the slip will stick to my tights as I walk and then everything stars riding up or looking wonky. Even with heavier materials like a denim skirt this is a problem. Do I need to get smoother tights or a different kind of slip or something? Maybe real silk so it wouldn’t be static-y?
I’ve had people ask me that before, too, but I haven’t had that problem. I do wear slips often, but not always (and I wasn’t with that dress). Maybe it’s the tights that are the problem? Are they good quality? I’ve given up on cheap tights because I’ve found that they’re just not worth the few bucks in savings.
The How Could You Nantes Dress? is kicking most of the other dresses’ butts in my Little Red Dress poll, but the Diane von Furstenberg one is in first place. I love the look of those boots, but I’m not sure if I could pull off such a high heel…
DARLING! I love love your dress…I saw it online at Target and kinda mad that I didn’t pull the trigger. And I’m so wishing we had a Kate Spade store here (why don’t we??), she’s gotten so fab over the last few seasons. That necklace rocks!
This is a really great combo. I notice that you wear a lot of dresses, even in winter. Are you a person that likes wearing tights? I have a horrible time finding tights that don’t roll down or create some other weird midsection craziness, so I gave up and don’t wear dresses in winter anymore.
I used to dislike tights as well, but now I love them. The trick, for me, was in spending a little more on nicer tights (in the $10-20 range) and finding brands that work for my body (Hue is my favorite).
You look adorable! And so fit and trim! :) Love the outfit you put together!
PS I like the blog makeover too! :) Great job!

Great color combo. Love those tights.
Yay! Thanks for the link to the Target dress- I just ordered one! I have a similar dress in grey (from 2008 or 2009), and have been wanting one in a brighter color.
I love the pink tights! This one raises a question I have been thinking about recently: as a 36 year old, can I still get away with coloured tights? I lust after Kate Spade’s polka dot tights…
I saw those and had the same concern! Colored tights, I think, are fine for a while. But polka dots can skew little kid so easily.
What a hot mamma you are! How encouraging, especially since you’ve had 2 kiddies. Very cute!
When I saw your pic I HAD to comment and tell you how wonderful you look. I’ve always loved that you haven’t allowed size to determine style… but I have to say YOU LOOK MAH-VELOUS in your new fit and trim bod. Good job mama!
Thanks. I’ve lost all the baby weight (50 pounds!) and am feeling pretty good.
I love your dress. I bought one in purple when you posted about it awhile back. I wish I would have bought more colors, but by the time I got mine they were all sold out! Target always has such good stuff. Did you get anything from the Jason Wu collection?
No. I only wanted a few things, but I wasn’t able to go to Target at opening and by the time I checked stock of things online (only an hour after they opened), everything I wanted was gone.
That’s insane it sold out so quickly. I went early, but it wasn’t as big of a deal around here (Dallas, TX) as I thought it was going to be. It was still pretty crazy once the doors opened though. I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to get the dress I wanted, but I got it and a few other things. I posted about it on my blog http://www.willscasa.com/2012/02/jason-wu-for-target-scramble/
I knew I should have bought that dress from Target when I first saw it!
Target has several dresses similar to the one that is out of stock:

totally in love with the outfit….i NEED those pink tights
I LOVE that you match the rug. Hilarious.
I’m late to this post, but I had a question. I’m a total mess putting outfits together. And I find your outfit posts so helpful! My question is about the red dress from ModCloth…If I didn’t want to wear boots, what style of shoes would you wear and what color tights (or nude panty hose)? I hate the latest style of bare leg. At least for me. I know that nude panty hose are so dated, but I think they make legs look lovely. Thoughts?
