    Better Sleep (and a Giveaway!)

This post is sponsored by Sleep Number®.

I’m a more patient mom with enough sleep. A more creative designer, a better partner, a better everything. For me, getting enough rest means not pushing myself to stay up and do one more thing because if I can just get myself into bed at a reasonable time, I can usually fall asleep pretty easily. If you’re someone that has a harder time of it though (like my better half), Sleep Number has some great tips for better sleep.

    Sleep Number Mattress

We’re loving our new mattress, and I’m pretty into checking the SleepIQ feedback that the bed provides. I knew from talking to Brandon that he doesn’t sleep as soundly as I do, but look at the difference in our data. And this is a big improvement for him! He used to get even less rest before.

    Sleep Number SleepIQ data

Those numbers are from a few weeks ago, and it’s cool to see in the app how they’ve improved and changed over time. Brandon’s paying attention to his patterns and implementing some helpful sleep solutions, using that information to find better sleep.

I was thinking about it and I realized that we’re opposites with other furniture too. I love our teal couch in the living room because it’s deep and the cushions are so soft. He prefers much more firm seating, like our beige armchairs or the black and white sofa in the library. Having a mattress that adjusts on each side has been really great for us! I keep my side at 40 and he’s most comfortable at 65 — a big difference. It’s a fantastic bed for couples, and they can tailor the right solution for you in store.

  • Art from Minted (With a Giveaway!)

Art from Minted (With a Giveaway!)

Minted is a marketplace that hosts regular competitions to source all their art from a global community of independent artists. They recently invited me to select a few of my favorite prints, and they’re hosting a $500 giveaway so that one of my readers can do the same! Details and instructions for entering are at the end of this post.

I chose three pieces, intending to group and hang them together above a vintage wooden bench in the hallway. August spotted and loved the Happy Faces print by Kim Johnson though, and he asked if I would hang it in his room.

Maybe all those happy faces will shine down on him and put him in a good mood when he’s having a cranky four-year-old kind of day. (A parent can hope, right?)

Happy Faces Art Print from Minted

    :)

The happy faces print was the largest, and it was to be the anchor in my group of three. With that one having been relocated, I set about finding new spots for the other two prints.

We did a ton of work to the hallway on the second floor, reconfiguring the layout, knocking down walls and putting up new ones, smoothing it all out, laying new flooring, and upgrading the lighting. But we haven’t stripped the paint on the window and doorframe yet, and while it would be great to skim coat the walls and remove or replace the carpet in the stairway, it isn’t a priority. Hanging something pretty (Peony Bottle, by Betty Hatchett) draws my eye to the art and lets me kind of ignore the rest.

    Minted Art in the Hallway

Remember the armoire with the crazy striped surprise inside that we painted? Here it is in place, a little further down the other side of the hallway. A low-maintenance plant, a thrifted lamp, and a radio have been hanging out on top, and I added my third Minted print over it — Mid-Century Moments, by That Girl Studio.

    Giveaway

I narrowed my list of dozens of favorites on Minted down to the three you see above, but it wasn’t easy to choose. They have tons of cute prints! Luckily for you, Minted is giving away a $500 credit so that one reader can choose a bunch of their favorites too. You have until midnight, June 28 to enter. Visit Minted to enter and for the complete rules. Good luck!

While this was a sponsored opportunity from Minted, all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

    * Congratulations to the winner, Stephanie!

    Artfully Walls Giveaway

    24 Merry Days of Giveaways

I’ve written about Artfully Walls before (on Babble), and now we’ve teamed up for our 24 Merry Days giveaway! Artfully Walls does a fantastic job of creating cohesive gallery walls that are ready to go, but you can also buy individual pieces or create your own collection. For today’s prize, I created two collections (a $500-600 value), and chose the print sizes, framing options, matting, arrangements, and even the backing wall color (Symphony Blue and Sparrow, both by Benjamin Moore). All the winner has to do is choose a favorite and then hang ’em up!

The first grouping I put together features an abstract print by Britt Turner framed in black, a photo by Catherine McDonald, also framed in black, and a stretched canvas portrait by Tali Yalonetzki. Feminine, with plenty of pink — you know I want this one, right?

Artfully Walls Gallery Art Arrangement by Making it Lovely

Ah, but I also love my second arrangement. The frames are a little glitzier here in gold, with a grouping that includes an illustration by Anat Maoz, a photo by Catherine McDonald and another by Sivan Askayo, and a stretched canvas print by Emeline Tate-Robertson.

Either collection, in full and framed, is up for grabs to one lucky winner to be chosen randomly. The giveaway is being run via Rafflecopter and is open to US residents only, so follow the instructions for multiple ways to enter below. Good luck, and remember to check 24 Merry Days for new prizes each day from now until Christmas!

    24 Merry Days of Giveaways

I’m taking part in 24 Merry Days this year! It’s a collective of awesome giveaways organized by Audrey, of This Little Street, with a site designed by Gloria, of Little White Whale. Audrey envisioned an online advent calendar with 24 days, 24 bloggers, and 24 giveaways full of amazing prizes — and then made it happen.* Up for grabs will be a table from West Elm, a bicycle from Public Bikes, a gallery of art from Artfully Walls, and gift cards to Anthropologie, Rifle Paper Co., Poppin, The Land of Nod, and more.

    24 Merry Days of Giveaways

I’ll be hosting one of the giveaways on Thursday, so come back then to see which one (because shhh, it’s a secret). And be sure to visit the other participating blogs to enter each day. You can also follow 24 Merry Days on Facebook to keep up.

Happy merry days, and good luck!

    * The whole thing reminds me a little of Indie Finds! I should write about that here some day; I can’t believe I haven’t before.
