Clearly I’m looking forward to the holidays. Velvet! Sparkle! Gold! Ruffles! Although, I tend to dress this way on normal days sometimes too…

I love dresses like this one paired with black tights because they’re effortlessly stylish. There’s a maternity version here, but it might need cinching in the waist. Red nail polish would take this look over the top, so I’d wear pink to keep it sweet and a little more casual. Plus you’d look so cute when you pull out your ‘best-ever-oh-my-god-where-did-you-get-that’ pocket mirror! (That was a shameless plug for my own shop, I know.) Lilac earrings and a fuschia velvet clutch add a little more color, while the shoes and ring bring in the shine.

    Style: October ’10 for Kids

I love finding clothes for Eleanor, and now that we’ll be adding a boy to our family I’ll be shopping the other half of the kids’ stores too. People are telling me that it’s so much harder to find cute clothes for little boys, but I’m finding plenty of great choices out there. Sure, maybe the selection is limited compared to the bounty for girls, but it’s out there.

I just got a pair of denim leggings (“jeggings” I suppose, though that word is awful right?) for Eleanor and I really liked them. I thought they’d work equally well on a boy so I had a little fun putting together two outfits based around them.

I never get tired of striped shirts on kids, and aren’t those canvas sneakers the best? For girls, ballet flats are so sweet, and I like girly embellished t-shirts. They’re just as easy to throw on as the plain ones but they look ten times better.

Do you have little kiddos of your own to dress? I don’t know if I’ll do these style posts for kids very often, but I loved putting this one together!

I tried that gray hat on recently and found it to be adorable, and I think it would be especially cute paired with these amazing shoes. Since that’s a lot of look already, I’d keep the rest simple with a sweater dress (maternity version here), a burnished gold necklace, and black tights. Then, because I can’t resist adding a little more color, I’d add a bright turquoise bag. Fun!

Fall! How I’ve missed you! You’ve always been my favorite, you know.

I love the bow and the drape of that blouse, and I think it would be gorgeous tucked into a denim pencil skirt (I’d have wear a maternity version) with a long cardigan over top. That cardigan has a surprise too: peek-a-boo sequins in the pockets! Fall calls for a great suede bag, and I always love a pair of metallic flats — especially when there are chevrons involved. A simple gold ring and gem earrings pick up on the sparkle of the shoe.

I’m really digging this one. Sometimes I base parts of an outfit on something I already own, but I don’t have any of these things except the skinny jeans (and I now own a maternity version too). So yeah… I really want to do some shopping now.

I love the mix of feminine things like the patterned blouse and the bag with a giant bow paired with more masculine pieces like these smart-looking shoes and tortoiseshell glasses. Perfect.

Dear outfit, please appear in my closet, OK?

If I knew how to swim, I’d buy that swimsuit immediately. I still kind of want it anyway. *sigh*

I do however know how to relax at a backyard barbecue (which I will be doing this fourth of July weekend), and this outfit would be perfect. A casual, comfortable dress, awesome strappy flat sandals, a charming necklace, and a punchy straw bag. Done.
