One of the benefits of having a green floor is the ability to layout art on it and imagine the arrangement on your similarly toned walls. Trouble figuring out placements for a gallery wall? Just paint your floors to match! Great planning aid!
I kid. Here’s what I’ve got so far though.
I’m going to use a little ledge for the tumbler and bowl, either in white or green. I’m considering adding a clock though too, and then maybe I’d need another little ledge to balance it out. What do you think?
Also, I’m trying to choose a color for the mirror. I had originally planned on yellow, but I nixed all of the yellow accessories for the room, so now the color would probably look out of place. Maybe black? Or the darker green of that little bowl above?

Your shoes: I want them! Who makes them?
Charity
What about a deep purple for the mirror? I think it would be gorgeous!
beck
love it. i’d spray paint the first aid kit and the mirror yellow for a little brightness in the room. it’s feeling very green and white now.
samsonizzle
I rather miss the yellow. You could bring it back in with the mirror, bowl, and if you want to do your clock, put it with the bowl and vase on the ledge, then a longer ledge on which to prop the large print and peeking in front of its left corner, a little vase of yellow flowers, like the modern alium looking ones from (I believe) Ikea…where have I seen those? Elsewhere in your home? Like I said in the previous comment, I’m pregnant; my memory is shot too.
samsonizzle
I’m pregnant and nesting something fierce right now, but you gave me an idea; you decide whether it’s genius or just silly. I’ve never done it, but I’ve heard of people painting a large board or something with a paint color they’re wanting to test out, propping it against the wall, then having a big swatch to really gauge what it’ll truly look like on the wall. Well, if you’ve done that, put that on the floor and there you have it: wall-matching art planning tool! I see a downside that the size of your board would make a frame of sorts that wouldn’t be exactly the size of the wall, and might affect the look of your art on the floor differently than they’ll look on the real wall. I have done my configuration planning on our regular, non-matching floors before though, and it’s really the best way to figure out the arrangement you want.
Making it Lovely
…sounds like a lot of work! ;)
samsonizzle
Agreed. :) As I was typing, I wondered why people would go to the trouble of painting a board to get a large swatch…why not just paint the wall itself and if you like it, you’ve got one wall done already! But, I figured if one were to do the swatch, might as well get another use out of it.

L-o-v-e the vintage medicine cabinet/box! Where did you find that?
Ashley
Just saw the reply with the info for the first aid box :) While black would look great on the mirror, I think it is too expected. I would go with the fun pink or blue :)
Kim
Could you share where the first aid box was purchased? Love it! Thanks!
Ali
Check out Amy Atlas’s blog post for today! Her chalk board white frame reminded me of your mirror!

Cute! I think that’s an IKEA frame. I had considered grabbing one and having a mirror cut to fit.
Natalie
Love that frame! Wherever did you find it?
And your sparkly shoes are too cute! :)
JLR
Black
Lydia
Silver, blue or red (especially if they are near your washer/dryer.
Laine
What about red?
Tiffany
It’s coming together nicely. I vote silver for the mirror because of the fixtures.
Ali
I like your idea of black! I love all the previous poster suggestions of pink! I love the bright blue idea!
But, I also think white would look great!
Whatever you pick will be terrific!
So fun that you can do wall layouts on your floor! That is awesome!
Love those cute shoes peeking into the photo!

I vote for a bright medium blue color. Sounds crazy at first, but look at this color palette from Emily Henderson: http://www.hgtv.com/design-star/emily-hendersons-design-portfolio/pictures/index.html
Its blue with green, but you could do something of the reverse and I bet it would look great!
Lydia
How about silver?
Mel
i vote white or black.
Campbell
Shiny silver! Is there such a thing as silver leaf?
tracy flaming
black. it would bring out the details in your sconces so nicely.
Ellen
The mirror frame in black would looh very sculptural and match nicely with the other accessories.
Eileen
I am not always a proponent of black but I think it would look very sharp in your adorable bathroom.
Tanya from Dans le Townhouse
Wow – so many good suggestions. Are you feeling overwhelmed? I think whatever you choose, it will look great and all will be envious. Another commentor suggested white and another pink. What about a super pale, pale blush pink? Mmmm, can’t wait to see!
Christina Winters
i vote the light blue or black. white would be nice, but think of all the dusting in those little nooks and crannies. >.<
Jaimie
Have you not considered white for the mirror? I like the idea of a lighter color with the green, although black would look nice too.
Jenny Joy
A must say that a peony pink mirror would make me swoon a little. It would be so you! :)
Lizzie
Paint the mirror Peony!! Pink has never been a bad choice for you *it’s your signature color!*
Sarah
I vote for the laundry room blue, just a little touch of Tiffany :)
Kris Mays
Def. black for the mirror.
Amber P
although I think the peony would be awesome.
Amber P
my first thought was that color that the Youngsters at Young House Love painted their built-ins…Dragonfly by Benjamin Moore.

I think the mirror would still look really great painted yellow. It would be a nice pop of color!
rhiannon
i love the color it is now in that photo!
dana
whatever color you choose for the mirror, have you considered martha’s new metallic paints?
Amelia
I was honestly thinking a metallic silver color would look good.
laura lee
love that print, especially for the bathroom!
Connie
I love that shade of green with light blue. Maybe light blue is an option for the mirror and a few accessories?
liz @ bon temps beignet
I’m totally distracted by the sparkly goodness that’s going on down by your tootypegs. Where, oh where did you find those???
melanie c
or what about a metallic finish? just to brighten it up in there without totally bringing in another color? so, silver? (maybe it’s your shoes that inspired me!)
Amy S
I came to the site from my reader just to comment that you should most certainly paint the mirror black…but then I read the other comments and I was swayed by the deep peony pink!
hollie
Oh my goodness I love that print! Off to purchase it now…
Beth
I think it’s better to choose a complementary color. From pictures, the bathroom is beginning to look a little dark without a yellow or another brighter color to mix in with the green and white… I think a yellow or another warm tone needs to be the color for the mirror.
Alissa @ Still Unwritten
Just found this blog and LOVE it! Where did you get the print that says “you look lovely today”? I absolutely adore it. Also, I think a white would look awesome on that mirror. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Making it Lovely
Thanks! I wrote about the print here, jokingly saying that it would take the place of a mirror.
Allison
I vote black for the mirror frame!
Abercrombie Wife
Love how the bathroom is coming along. I vote for a black mirror.
I am loving your shoes though! Where are they from?
Making it Lovely
J. Crew. They’re a little tight now though — I’m hoping my feet go back to their former pre-pregnancy size so I can continue to wear them.
Heather
Love how the bathroom is turning out! (And also love your shoes!)
Amanda @ Our Humble A{Bowe}d
I think light pink for the mirror to tie in with the pink walls just outside. Though white would look great, too. I’m not thrilled with a dark green. I think you need more contrast (and lighter accessories).
Making it Lovely
I like the pink idea (always a fan of pink), and stevie’s suggestion of light blue in a comment above too.
Brandy
BLACK! Shiny!
holly
where is that first aid kit from?? its adorable!
Making it Lovely
I wrote about it here.
Emily
Why is your tiny basement bathroom so much cuter than any of the ones in my house?
Making it Lovely
The basement bathroom is the cutest one in the house now. We should start sending guests down there if they need to use the facilities!
elizabeth
Super cute shoes! Where are they from?
Making it Lovely
J. Crew, last year.
Rachel
I was going to comment on the shoes too – love them!
AJ
yes, great shoes! That is the first thing that popped into my mind.
Catherine
I vote for a deep peony pink on the mirror! Or maybe a fun clock like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002LARMBW
Jaimie
Normally I love pink and green, but I’m not sure I’d like it with a green as olive-y as the one in here.
Making it Lovely
Fun!
jbhat
That was my thought. A deep, bright pink.

Amanda
I agree with the above posters that the mirror would look great in black, but how about a pale pink to reference the other areas of the basement space. Or a similar pinkish-beige to reference the background of the art?
Cristina
What’s that little first aid kit? Does it mount on the wall?
Making it Lovely
It does.
annabelvita
Are the stripes on the little lamps black? If so I’d say black. Looking good!
Jaimie
This is what I was thinking.
Making it Lovely
Yes, and on the towel too.
stevie
What about the Light blue you painted the basement door? It would be a little bit of cheer to brighten the space up.
Making it Lovely
Not a bad idea…
Linda
The mirror frame would look fabulous in black!
Christina
I concur….. A matt black would be lovely and picks out the black in the zig-zag accessories and light fixtures.
:O)
Diana Smith
that print is super adorable!!
Christa
I think a shiny dark green on the mirror would look great!
I love it so far!
Stacie
I think painting the mirror white or the darker green would pop quite nicely! I very much like the fixtures you chose for your lighting!
Making it Lovely
I very much like them too. Those were from Schoolhouse Electric.
