Style: November 2011

November has almost come and gone, and I nearly missed this month’s style post! I think this has been my busiest month ever.

The only thing I actually own here is the necklace, and it’s a good one. I do wish I owned those boots though — the heel height is perfect. Paired with tights, a cute printed skirt, and a colorful boatneck tee, they’d make a perfect fall to winter outfit. And then along with those boots, I’m wishing I had the Pendleton overnight bag. I don’t see this one in my future, but it is beautiful.

Cocktail Party

The holiday season is upon us, and with it, holiday parties. Do you have many occasions to dress up? I don’t usually, but this year is shaping up a little differently. Plus there are the usual family functions, like Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas (I like the idea of wearing a fancy dress, but toning it down a little).

What would you pull together for a fun cocktail party? I always love seeing how everyone pairs things differently. And as always, I’ll show you which ones I’d pick below. Continue Reading…

That orange dress is so cute and affordable ($30), I think it would be a great staple.* I’d go monochromatic with cinnamon tights and red/orange heels, then add a neutral cardigan to break things up a bit. The elephant bracelet is bananas and could be the sole jewelry, but the outfit still needs something up top so I’d add a simple pendant necklace. And that purse! So charming, and I love adding a completely unexpected additional color.

* The dress isn’t very nursing-friendly, unfortunately for me. I think I’m going to pick one up anyway even though I won’t be able to wear it for at least a few more months.

Metallic Oxfords Follow-up

Yep, we did it. We’re totally dressing like twinsies. Minus the ribbon laces for me.

On me: Tights, Missoni for Target; Shoes, c/o Fossil. On Eleanor: Shoes, Nordstrom; Leggings, Children’s Place

Style: September ’11

I liked using this sweater dress as a plain canvas to build a look around.

Here, I’d pair the dress with bare legs (while the weather still permits) and oxford heels. The clutch is interesting and a nice size, and I like the subtle color. A simple dress calls for bold jewelry, like this necklace and a big red ring. Along with the jewlelry, I’d go with gold polish and red lipstick (always a fan of red lipstick), and I’m loving the rerelease of Chanel No. 19.

So this is one way to style it, but it would go well with these shoes, watches, and purses too. Or with tights and boots, and maybe a belt. How would you wear it?

p.s. I put together a little girl’s version of this look for a mother/daughter style post.
