As you can see, I decided to take August’s photo in the library. Can you believe he’s one month old already? He weighs eleven and a half pounds now, and is already outgrowing his 0-3 month clothes. I wish he were happier for this, his first picture, but I was losing daylight (so no time to postpone our photo shoot). Oh well — I don’t mind having the occasional crying baby photo.
Happy one-month birthday, little guy!

The basement still isn’t done. STILL.
No, you haven’t missed August’s nursery (many people have been asking). Eleanor is still in the nursery until we can convert my studio into her bedroom, and the studio needs to be moved into the basement for that to happen.
The bathroom is nearing completion, and the laundry room is nearing what I’ve begun thinking of as the 1.0 version.
Also, sleep? We could all use a little more. August is somewhat nocturnal. He’s a sweetie though, so we forgive him.
I took a photo of August in Eleanor’s usual spot yesterday.
I’m going to start photographing him monthly too, but I’m considering a change of location. I think that the library would make a good backdrop, yes?
I don’t know if I should prop him up in the white chair that’s already up there, or if I should bring the Eames rocker up for each photo. I think it could be cool to have him in the same chair to connect his photos to his sister’s, but I also think it’s going to be a total pain to have to set it up every month. Sigh.
C’est la vie de l’overachiever.
I took a photograph of Eleanor each day until the new baby arrived, to document our last 4-6 weeks as a family of three.

You and mama were napping together in your room when mama’s water broke suddenly! She quietly got up, moved you into your crib, and then called daddy to take her to the hospital to have the baby. Your little brother, August Ray, was born less than three hours later.
