Say hello to your new dream bathroom fixture: a freestanding shower by Drummonds. I figure I’ll just pop one of these off of our bedroom, easy peasy instant master bath! Sure, they’re in the UK and cost about $30,000, but let’s not dwell on details.
The Severn — I believe this was their first freestanding shower design.
The Spittal — A much larger version of the Severn.
The Test Freestanding Shower — Gone are the delicate feet of the Severn and Spittal, the base instead is a skirted tray with rounded edges.
The Thurso — My favorite! Everything about this is perfection (wallpaper included).
Prepare to fall in love with their bathtubs, too.
The Spey with Ball Claw Feet — Lovely and traditional.
The Tyburn Stone Bath Tub — More modern, but still fitting for an older or more traditional home. And how gorgeous is that basin sink?
The Bute Cast Iron Tub — Their newest. Stock tank chic.
These are definitely for the luxury set. Cost aside though, do you like the idea of a freestanding shower? Would you add one to your home if you could? Truly, I would in my home for sure.

July 12, 2017 at 7:22 amYes please to the cast iron tubs, but those showers don’t work for me. They look really small, and where would you put your soap and shampoo? Also I’m sure I’d fall flat on my face getting out, haha. Pretty, but not very practical.

July 12, 2017 at 11:26 amThey are small, though the bigger sizes look totally fine to me. We have a large shower where there used to be a clawfoot tub, and if you cut the length of it in half it would still be plenty roomy.

July 12, 2017 at 8:19 amThese are fantastic! Our downstairs bathroom has a little shower nook built in. It would be fantastic if we had an extra $30,000 to burn to open that up and put one of these in instead. It would be less dark in that corner and look way more chic. It reminds me of the old rib-cage shape showers but without the need for a shower curtain.

July 12, 2017 at 11:31 amYes! I think the subtraction of the horizontal bands (the ribs, I guess) get rid of the ‘creepy’ factor a lot of people find in those rib cage showers.

July 12, 2017 at 8:29 amThey’re so pretty! But I agree with Kristin. I don’t think they’re very practical. There’s no place to put all my stuff.
Also, there’s no seat/ledge to prop up my foot when I shave my legs.
And I don’t know if I’d want to clean all that glass after each shower.
But I’d take one of those tubs any day!!

July 12, 2017 at 11:33 amAh, it would be a lot of glass to keep clean! And it looks like you can add a little shelf in the larger sizes, though it wouldn’t hold a whole lot.

July 12, 2017 at 9:27 amThe shower looks like a fancied-up telephone booth. No, thanks. The freestanding tubs are pretty, but give me my built-in Jacuzzi tub and large tiled shower.

July 12, 2017 at 11:34 amI think I like fancied-up telephone booths! :)

July 12, 2017 at 9:55 amLOVE this. I’ve seen them so I knew exactly what you were talking about.
But WAIT!
I believe I can “DIY” the whole thing for FAR less than 30,000.

Pair this with an exposed pipe shower, then contact your local custom glass company for the surround.
You could probably come in at about $3000 plus installation.

July 12, 2017 at 11:35 amOooh! Look at that. Though I would want that pretty top detailing with the shower head.

July 12, 2017 at 9:57 amFree standing shower? Ridiculous. Glass walled shower, yes please.

July 12, 2017 at 11:25 amWhy do you think one is silly, but like the other? Size? Style?

July 12, 2017 at 10:39 pmI don’t think I’m on board with the freestanding shower…I can only think of the movie The Prestige. Haha! But I LOVE me a good freestanding tub. Especially clawfoot!!

July 12, 2017 at 11:08 pmLove them!!! One day we will add a second bathroom to our 100+ year old house and as this project is still just a dream, I will dream big and imagine incorporating one of these showers! I liked the original (first photo) the best! Honestly, I have been thinking that a stand alone shower stall may seem out of place in a house like mine and figure that when we do add a second bath we will look around for another old claw foot tub. Has anyone seen shower stalls done in a way(aside from these beautiful but insanely expensive ones) that seem more fitting for a turn of the century house?

July 13, 2017 at 8:27 amI do not hate the gold\brass one with the nice cognac setup for my shower audience (snort). What I really love is the $12K red stock tank!! Luxury set, indeed. You do bring the best stuff to the party, Nicole!
BTW, I have whatever is the standard small shower stall (30 inches), and it’s perfectly fine.

July 14, 2017 at 4:27 amI love the wallpaper behind them! I think that’s what makes it.

July 17, 2017 at 9:41 amWhat a great shower for a room where showering is not an everyday occurrence. Sigh, I need more guest rooms. Inspired!

July 17, 2017 at 4:56 pmThis would be perfect for our basement bathroom. We tore out the (nasty) old shower which hid mold between the shower and the exterior wall. After cleaning and waterproofing everything, we have no desire to “seal” up all the basement walls again – we want to let air circulate as much as possible. A freestanding shower would be awesome!

August 17, 2020 at 3:54 pmI just wanted to come here to tell you that, 3 years later, I have never stopped thinking about this post or trying to figure out how to get one of these showers! :)
I’m trying to figure out what I can piece together from this: https://www.vintagetub.com/strom-plumbing-42-inch-shower-pan-with-ball-claw-feet-p0774c-s.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjfe4ro-j6wIVDJyzCh1SQgUVEAQYAiABEgLcCvD_BwE#208=2903&aid=17038
