I’m a more patient mom with enough sleep. A more creative designer, a better partner, a better everything. For me, getting enough rest means not pushing myself to stay up and do one more thing because if I can just get myself into bed at a reasonable time, I can usually fall asleep pretty easily. If you’re someone that has a harder time of it though (like my better half), Sleep Number has some great tips for better sleep.
We’re loving our new mattress, and I’m pretty into checking the SleepIQ™ feedback that the bed provides. I knew from talking to Brandon that he doesn’t sleep as soundly as I do, but look at the difference in our data. And this is a big improvement for him! He used to get even less rest before.
Those numbers are from a few weeks ago, and it’s cool to see in the app how they’ve improved and changed over time. Brandon’s paying attention to his patterns and implementing some helpful sleep solutions, using that information to find better sleep.
I was thinking about it and I realized that we’re opposites with other furniture too. I love our teal couch in the living room because it’s deep and the cushions are so soft. He prefers much more firm seating, like our beige armchairs or the black and white sofa in the library. Having a mattress that adjusts on each side has been really great for us! I keep my side at 40 and he’s most comfortable at 65 — a big difference. It’s a fantastic bed for couples, and they can tailor the right solution for you in store.
We’re sleeping well on our Sleep Number mattress, and I’m thrilled to offer up a chance for one of you to do the same! One Making it Lovely reader will win the awesome prize of a queen sized Sleep Number p5 mattress. You can enter by following the directions in the Rafflecopter widget below.

My bed is 16 years old. I’d say it’s time for a new one!
CatherineJuly 10, 2017 at 9:24 am
My closest sleep number store is right here in Tallahassee, FL! My husband and I have very different sleep preferences. He likes the room cool; I like it warm. I like thick, fluffy blankets; he likes nothing more than a thin sheet. He likes a firm mattress; I like a softer. A Sleep Number mattress would go a long way in helping us find compromise in our sleeping arrangements!
CorrinJuly 10, 2017 at 9:27 am
There’s a store less than 5 miles from my house in Austin. My biggest problem is that I wake up hot and sweaty every night because my current mattress retains heat like whoa.
ChantelJuly 10, 2017 at 9:29 am
My closest store is in Cambridge, MA! I’m way overdue for a new mattress, this sounds perfect!
Bailey K.July 10, 2017 at 9:34 am
My closest store is in Camp Hill, PA. It’s definitely time for a new mattress since mine has a valley in the middle! :-)
Marty OravetzJuly 10, 2017 at 9:34 am
Oh my, I would love to win, this is a fabulous bed.
ErinJuly 10, 2017 at 9:35 am
Bethesda, MD. Our bed is older than our marriage, and we haven’t been able to decide on a replacement!
CherylJuly 10, 2017 at 9:39 am
Looks like there are 3 locations in Orlando area less than 10 miles from me! My sister & her husband keep offering to let us try their bed – they love it. We need a new bed and have been considering a Sleep Number bed since we’re not sure the compromise we made last time really worked for us – he likes it soft and I like it firm. Thanks for the opportunity!
AriJuly 10, 2017 at 9:41 am
There is a store just a few miles away from me in Cincinnati. Our mattress is old and it needs replaced, but we just haven’t gotten around to taking care of it.
AmyJuly 10, 2017 at 9:48 am
Serremonte is our store, and we have such an olllllddd mattress we truly need an upgrade, the hubs moves a lot during sleep so something more solid would be great for my sleep!
JFJuly 10, 2017 at 9:48 am
There’s a store not far from me but I’ve never gone to try it out. I’ve got an old mattress and I live alone so I’ve never considered sleep number before. That app though is really a nice feature and I trust it more than a phone that sits on the mattress. Plus, I like that what feels comfy today may not tomorrow, so the mattress adjusts for that.
Would love to see a check in after a few months to see how you two still love the mattress and if Brandon has improved more!
ArliJuly 10, 2017 at 9:54 am
My closest store is in Boerem Hil, Brooklyn, NY. I wake up in the middle of the night and am awake for hours.
bethJuly 10, 2017 at 9:57 am
my closest store is in greenville, nc. not sure if it’s a side effect of getting older (having just turned 40) or having kids, but i feel like my sleep quality has progressively gone down hill. the 14 year old mattress i have surely is not helping.
Brianne TomlinJuly 10, 2017 at 10:03 am
Looks like our closest is Alderwood Mall – Lynnwood, WA. My husband and I have very different ideas of “soft” and “firm”, so would be great to have our own options.
BetsyJuly 10, 2017 at 10:03 am
Closest store is Easton. Our mattress is old! I’m sure we’d sleep better on a new one!
SarahJuly 10, 2017 at 10:04 am
Billings, MT. We just bought a new house and I’d love a new mattress to go with it!
Gina M.July 10, 2017 at 10:04 am
My nearest store is smack dab between work and home. My husband and I will be married eight years tomorrow and we’re still sleeping on his childhood FULL mattress. It is more than time for an upgrade!
Megan MerrillJuly 10, 2017 at 10:05 am
My closest store currently is the Brooklyn-Boerum Hill location, but I’m moving at the end of the month and my new apartment is near the Buckhead – Lenox Rd (Atlanta) location. My husband has back problems and I have weird shoulder problems, so a Sleep Number bed would be great!
AshleyJuly 10, 2017 at 10:11 am
The closest location is in Raleigh, NC! My biggest perform right now is pregnancy-related: my hips are killing me at night. Thanks for a great giveaway!
KristinJuly 10, 2017 at 10:11 am
My closest store is Fairfax VA. My husband has sleep apnea and also trouble falling asleep. Our mattress was a hand me down and is too firm for me, so I’d love something tailored to our needs!
Victoria CrowJuly 10, 2017 at 10:16 am
The store I would go to is in Santeria, CA. I would love to know my sleep number and improve my sleep health.
VictoriaJuly 10, 2017 at 10:18 am
Santee, CA! I didn’t catch the auto correct- sorry!
WyndiJuly 10, 2017 at 10:18 am
Broadway Square Tyler Tx and my matresses are so worn out and are starting to make sleeping painful.
Nicole CJuly 10, 2017 at 10:31 am
My closest store is in Springfield VA. We’ve had our current mattress for over 10 years and desperately need a new one. I have a few friends who love their sleep number mattresses. Being able to have different settings for each person sounds great.
StephanieJuly 10, 2017 at 10:35 am
We really need a new mattress, our current one is sagging and lumpy. We both have shoulder pain, a sleep number might just be the trick to fix that!
Laura KJuly 10, 2017 at 10:36 am
Our closest store is Rogers, AR. I would dearly love a new bed. Ours was given to us (used) by a neighbor when we were first married. It has definitely seen better days and now we both have sore backs constantly. I’m ready to upgrade.
CourtneyJuly 10, 2017 at 10:41 am
My closest location is the Lincoln Park store! My parents have had their Sleep Number for about five years and love it. Now that my mattress is on its last leg (not even plural, there’s just one leg left) I’m giving one of my own some serious thought.
Amy MayenJuly 10, 2017 at 10:42 am
I toss and turn every night and have back pain. We’re building a house and I’m hoping to seriously upgrade my sleeping!
ElizabethJuly 10, 2017 at 10:44 am
Our closest store is at Mall St. Matthews. We need a new mattress because ours currently has two human-sized wells in it. I was unimpressed with how a traditional mattress has held up over the years, so perhaps a sleep number bed would be a good change.
CaitlinJuly 10, 2017 at 10:50 am
My husband and I can’t agree on an appropriate mattress firmness, our next mattress will likely need to a Sleep Number. He likes mattresses so soft that I feel like I’m falling into a sink hole and he feels like my firmer preference is rock-hard.
Jolene MiesnerJuly 10, 2017 at 10:54 am
My boyfriend and I just bought a house. I had been noticing that our bed wasn’t as comfortable as it used to be, but especially after the move and pushing and pulling up the stairs I just haven’t been sleeping as well. I started thinking about it and realized that the mattress is 11 years old now, so probably about ready for an upgrade!
ErinJuly 10, 2017 at 10:55 am
My closest store is at the Quarry. Our mattress is way too soft and definitely needs an update!
Kylie McGowanJuly 10, 2017 at 11:01 am
Our closest store is in Appleton, just 30 minutes away. My husband sleeps really hot, so I’d love to have some temp control.
Allison Schweizer McDougallJuly 10, 2017 at 11:01 am
My husband and I have different sleep needs and out firm mattress is making it worse!
Emily hambrickJuly 10, 2017 at 11:11 am
There’s a store so close! I need a mattress SOOO bad. We both sleep terribly on our current mattress and it is so broken down that it just creaks all night long!
Amanda KJuly 10, 2017 at 11:14 am
My closest store is in Burlington, MA. We have a Sleep Number bed and love it! But definitely need an upgrade after moving a couple of times
Nancy LoringJuly 10, 2017 at 11:16 am
Portland Mine is the closet to me which is perfect because I go right by this store when I visit my daughter at college. My bed now does not give me any type of support anymore. The kids used it too much as a trampoline when they were younger. Yes, I also I had fun with the kids jumping on my bed but now I have to pay the consequences for having all of that fun. My dog also thinks my mattress doesn’t do the trick anymore.
RachaelJuly 10, 2017 at 11:16 am
I just need a bigger bed!
CourtneyJuly 10, 2017 at 11:16 am
How timely! We are in the market for a Queen size bed, coming from a King to better fit our room. My closest store is in Tulsa, OK.
LynnRJuly 10, 2017 at 11:23 am
Garden City, Cranston here. Our mattress is aging
Carrie S.July 10, 2017 at 11:23 am
I’m surprised to see a store at the Galleria at South Bay! We slept on a Sleep Number bed several years ago at a resort in San Diego, and it was one of the best nights’ sleep ever. I like firm and my husband likes soft, so someone always has to compromise – it’s usually him since I have back & hip issues!
Debbie GJuly 10, 2017 at 11:24 am
Closest is Knoxville Turkey Creek….We have different sleeping positions, which means we generally buy for my husband while my hips pay the price!
Ashley KnightJuly 10, 2017 at 11:25 am
This is an amazing giveaway! My closest store is in Rochester Hills, MI. And we have similar issues in our house – very different comfort levels! It’d be so nice to tailor our bed to our own taste!
DianaJuly 10, 2017 at 11:29 am
I’m ecstatic to see a store nearby in Greensboro and Raleigh. As a newly pregnant momma, a sleep number bed would greatly help me and my partner get a little more sleep!
Diana TijerinaJuly 10, 2017 at 11:31 am
My closest store is in Bakersfield, CA. My mattress is so uncomfortable!! My husband and I would love a Sleep number bed.
chicamaniaJuly 10, 2017 at 11:31 am
Brand new store in Dedham, only 4 miles away from us! We’ve already been there checking out the beds, because we have the issue where my husband prefers a much softer mattress and I prefer more firm. I’d also be SUPER interested in analyzing all the sleep data to figure out just how much rest we’re actually getting :)
BethJuly 10, 2017 at 11:33 am
Our nearest store is Charleston, WV. I’d love a new mattress because I have a difficult time getting to sleep and staying asleep!
JHJuly 10, 2017 at 11:43 am
I work right near a store, who knew!
PeggiJuly 10, 2017 at 11:45 am
The closest store is 50 miles away, but that’s what happens when you live in the middle of nowhere! I’d love to upgrade our bed and then have one for the guest room- the ol’ mattress shuffle.
Miranda I BouckJuly 10, 2017 at 11:46 am
My closest store is the West Omaha store, which is about 30 miles away.
Sleep Number has been on my radar for a while – my husband needs a firmer mattress because of lingering back issues from his time in the military. I, on the other hand, need a softer mattress, because each time I sleep on anything too firm I wake up with backaches and my neck out is out of alignment. I feel like a Sleep Number might finally be the trick to getting us both what we need.
Christy SappJuly 10, 2017 at 11:47 am
Murray is my closest store. Like you, my partner and I have different sleep patterns. I would love to try this out.,
LBJuly 10, 2017 at 11:47 am
Rock Hill SC Galleria — my bed makes my legs fall asleep!
Nicole KJuly 10, 2017 at 11:49 am
Capitol Mall, Olympia, WA – struggling with lower back pain. No fun!

Manhasset, NY – having more trouble sleeping due to illness
Mindy D AsplinJuly 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm
Market Place Mall Champaign, IL. I have issues with going to sleep and staying asleep. I have a condition called fibromyalgia and deep restful sleep is hard to come by with it.
JuliaJuly 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm
We’ve actually already visited our nearest Sleep Number store because I’m desperate to replace our mattress. I have pain in various points around my back but the worst is in my lower/inner side right shoulder blade.
renleaJuly 10, 2017 at 12:06 pm
Tukwila-Southcenter Pkwy – intermittent insomnia
MayaJuly 10, 2017 at 12:14 pm
Scottsdale Arizona – two hours away!
Jenn QJuly 10, 2017 at 12:21 pm
Sherry JensenJuly 10, 2017 at 12:26 pm
The Avenues Viera– my husband and I don’t share the same opinion on soft vs. firm. A Sleep Number would solve our debate!
shanJuly 10, 2017 at 12:32 pm
austin-domain–chronic back pain that greatly diminishes depending on my mattress!
KatieJuly 10, 2017 at 12:35 pm
The Rivertown Crossings store is closest to me. Both my husband and I need a soft mattress but ours is old enough that I end up with tingling in my arms from having no support for my back while sleeping. This needs to stop!
Bianca MunozJuly 10, 2017 at 12:37 pm
Concord NC – NOW OPEN!
I’m pregnant and due in December. Getting a good nights rest is hard. This would be wonderful during pregnancy and after. Thank you!
BeckyJuly 10, 2017 at 12:42 pm
We slept at an hotel near O’Hare with a sleep number bed before we departed for our honeymoon, and we still look back on it as one of the best night’s sleep we ever had ten years later!
HannahJuly 10, 2017 at 12:43 pm
My closest store is in Holyoke MA, where I work. I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and would LOVE to try something to help make my sleep better! Thanks for the giveaway :)
LesJuly 10, 2017 at 12:45 pm
Concord, NC – my husband and I sleep so differently and have different types of back and leg pain. Plus…the mattress is worn out with 4 kids who used to love to jump on it! Haha Would love a sleep number…hearing so many good things!
Deb AJuly 10, 2017 at 12:48 pm
Cincinnati-Eastgate Marketplace – I just don’t sleep well! I average about 4 hrs per night. Not good!
ZhalehJuly 10, 2017 at 12:50 pm
The Woodlands Mall Store. Our current mattress is precariously concave in the middle, good for snuggling, not so good for my hips and knees or my husband’s back.
AmberJuly 10, 2017 at 12:50 pm
Roseville, MN – I’m a pain in the neck. No! Wait, I HAVE a pain in my neck. :)
LizJuly 10, 2017 at 1:01 pm
Crossgates Mall in Albany, NY. I, like many people, took advantage of/fell victim to the online bed in a box; a year in, it is truly terrible. My husband and I both sleep badly (tossing and turning, disturbing each other, etc.) and I wake up almost every day with lower back pain and a constant feeling of exhaustion. Please help us out!
S. ShawJuly 10, 2017 at 1:05 pm
Austin-Domain Dr TX
My husband and I also differ on what type of mattress we each find most comfortable. With a sleep number mattress, we could both get a good night’s rest!
Wendy StewartJuly 10, 2017 at 1:06 pm
The Chicago store is my closest one. My husband and I have had the same temperpedic mattress for almost 14 years!! It doesn’t do it’s job well anymore and we’re definitely in need of an upgrade. I’ve got a bad back and he has a hard time falling asleep.
Amanda CarsonJuly 10, 2017 at 1:10 pm
North County Faire Mall in Escondido, CA. My husband was in the military and has back problems due to an accident as well as normal wear and tear of daily activity in the military. He’s been out for 8 years now, but he seems to be in constant pain to the point that he even goes to a chiropractor regularly to get relief. Recently, he’s told me that he wants to get a sleep number bed because he thinks it will elevate some of his back pain and help him get better sleep. This bed would be for big, bad Marine who needs some help. Thank you!
Anna McNinjaJuly 10, 2017 at 1:12 pm
My closest store is the Birmingham Riverchase Galleria. I have neck/back issues, and this could def help with those problems!
angieJuly 10, 2017 at 1:20 pm
My closest store is in Roanoke, VA.
I would love to be able to sleep for more than 5 hours a night but back and hip pain wake me up most nights.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Kim RJuly 10, 2017 at 1:21 pm
Buckhead – Lenox in Atlanta, GA. I have pain in my left hip and have difficulty sleeping on that side, and also pain in my right shoulder. Some nights I flop back and forth all night long.
DorotheaJuly 10, 2017 at 1:25 pm
There’s a store nearby in Camas, WA.
I can’t sleep for more than 2 hours without waking up – it’s a continuous cycle throughout the night.
(Love the upholstered bench you’ve placed at the end of your bed – would you mind divulging where you purchased it? Many thanks!)
VirginiaJuly 10, 2017 at 1:29 pm
Our closest store is Bellevue WA, which is convenient as it’s right near where my husband works. Ever since I got to my 2nd trimester in pregnancy I knew our old Simmons BeautyRest had to go–it had been a great mattress but we’d had it for a decade and it showed (and hurt my back sometimes with the uneven wearing of our heavy bodies on it). We tried another mattress, one of the higher-end online versions, but I really haven’t been impressed and would be thrilled to try a truly customizable mattress like Sleep Number! Alas, I don’t feel like I can justify another *purchased* mattress after we already bought and decided to keep a new one, but man, if I won it… :)
Korin B.July 10, 2017 at 1:29 pm
Our current mattress used to be heavenly but in the last six months or so it has gotten sadly saggy, we are just starting the search for a new mattress. My parents have a sleep number and we would LOVEE a free upgrade so much!
SusanjJuly 10, 2017 at 1:32 pm
Fashion Square Mall, Charlottesville… Our bed is almost 20 years old. We both wake up in pain every day and our sleep is horrible. We would love this new bed!
natalieJuly 10, 2017 at 1:40 pm
I’m overdue for a visit to the Chicago store. I’ve been researching start-up beds and feeling overwhelmed with making a big decision. But I’m sick (and tired! from not sleeping well) of tossing and turning all night. It’s time for a change.
ElizabethJuly 10, 2017 at 1:42 pm
Camp Hill, PA — an hour away. We bought an Ikea mattress three years ago and haven’t been very pleased with it.
JenniferJuly 10, 2017 at 2:08 pm
Park Meadows Mall Lone Tree, CO. I am a light sleeper and my spouse moving around constantly wakes me up. Think a new mattress would help greatly with this issue

taraJuly 10, 2017 at 2:10 pm

EliseJuly 10, 2017 at 2:14 pm
the avenue, viera is the closest. my husband and i have drastically different softness requirements for a bed, so both of us are at least mildly uncomfortable in our bed.
MeghanJuly 10, 2017 at 2:37 pm
My local store is greensboro- wendover village. We just bought a new mattress a month ago and it is way too firm. We are both having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep (it would probably really bum me out to see my stats right now, like you have at the beginning of the post). We need to replace!
Linda MooreJuly 10, 2017 at 2:43 pm
Wellington, FL. So close

Chiropractic issues are my biggest sleep struggle! Aaaaand wanting to watch more TV
GretchenJuly 10, 2017 at 3:17 pm
Bellevue, WA – I am a restless sleeper and often wake up sore. This could potentially help!
shamarJuly 10, 2017 at 3:39 pm
Cary town center is the closest store. I’m a hot sleeper and a side sleeper and my arm is always numb in the morning — would love to try a sleep number bed.
EmilyhJuly 10, 2017 at 3:48 pm
My neartest store is in tukwila, wa. My neck and shoulders are always sore and stiff. I’m sure a new bed would help.
Sarah UJuly 10, 2017 at 3:52 pm
Towson, MD- I’m forever tired because I wake up every time I roll over (which is frequently!) while partner has back problems so we each prefer a different bed type. Different halves could be the way to go!
EmilieJuly 10, 2017 at 4:07 pm
My nearest store is:
Sleep Number Lynnwood
3000 184th Street S Space 964
Lynnwood, WA 98037
I can’t tell what I need. I like soft but tend to wake up stiff so wondering if firmer matress would help.
NicoleJuly 10, 2017 at 4:10 pm
Closest location to me is YORKSHIRE PLAZA in Aurora, IL… my lumpy old Ikea latex mattress needs an upgrade. I toss & turn forever trying to call asleep, so this seems like it could be just what I need!
Anna K.July 10, 2017 at 4:22 pm
My closest store is at Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, OH. My husband and I sleep differently – he is a back/side sleeper, and I’m a stomach/side sleeper. We are staying in a charity-run guest house for ministry workers, and 2 of the 3 mattresses here are VERY old. I’d love to provide one that can be used by us, then many other families who come through the guest house in the future!
