My Grandma Rose sang when she was happy, and it wasn’t until years later that I realized most of the songs she sang were by Doris Day. Que Sera, Sera was one of her favorites.
I thought it would make a sweet print for Eleanor, though I did take a little liberty with the lyrics. Doris asks her mother, “Will I be pretty, will I be rich?”, and she asks her sweetheart the line about rainbows. I transposed them because I thought it was better for a little girl’s room that way, and the fact that I could make “RAINBOWS” in rainbow colors may have swayed me a little too.
You may download and print this PDF for your own personal use. The file is 8″x10″, so it will print nicely on a sheet of paper. I used card stock and a white wooden frame from Target.

Thanks for posting this, Nicole. My mom sang that song to me all the time while I was growing up. Now that she’s moving out of the state next week, I’d be great to put it up in my one-year-old’s bedroom as a reminder of her grandmother. Thanks again!!

No, these are the curtains that are still up in the nursery (from Pottery Barn Kids). I took the photo there, but I’ve since moved the print into Eleanor’s room.

Thanks! I found the jpeg copy for my girls’ room. My grandmother used to play her Doris Day albums all the time and I used to tell my grandpa that I loved him “1 million purple rainbows” -my two favorite things when I was 5. Rainbows are special in my house. Sweet memories of the world’s greatest grandparents. Thanks!

Que Sera, Sera – this rings so loud in my memory. This is one of those Mom (has been gone 31 yrs now :o() memories that I don’t have the chance to bring back so easily. YOU made that spark this evening! Thank you for this, as I heard my Mother say this to be oh so many times as a child/ teenager growing up!
My mom recently passed away and will miss seeing her first great grandchild. She sang this to us as kids- the song is well known in the family….I’m going to print this and give it as a gift next Saturday at the baby shower. It’s sure to bring lots of happy tears! Thank you! I’m new to your blog and just saw this. I love it! I sang that song to all 4 of my kids when they were little. The oldest is about to turn 31 and the youngest is 17. Great memories! And as for taking liberty with the lyrics, my first 3 were boys so yep I have done that too! This is just lovely, I will have to print it and keep it in my “one day I’ll be a grandma” box!
