Slipcovering a Patrik Chair?
I have IKEA’s Patrik as my desk chair. I still like it and it’s comfortable, but I’d like to change the color. I think having it reupholstered would probably be too expensive, so I thought a slipcover could be a good solution.
Do you think it would be too hard to do though? There are a lot of crazy angles.

It’s so pretty.
It looks good with the pink upholstery fabric I bought on eBay too. I’m going to put white curtains up instead of ivory, and I think the rug could stay (for now at least).
I was going to paint the ceiling the same color as the living room, but I don’t think it will look as good as I thought it would. Maybe white, gray (to match or a little darker), or pink?

Four New Dining Room Ideas
These are my latest ideas…
The constants throughout all four designs are the ivory curtains (from Crate & Barrel, now discontinued), the lighting fixture (from west elm), the dining table and chairs (vintage, from Jubilee Furniture), and the wood trim and floors in our home. Also, I may edge the curtains with a coordinating solid to pick up on the other elements in each design.

The Striped Rug
What do you think?
The dining room is so jumbled right now. The fabric in the hutch, the different colored walls, one zigzag chair, roman shades that don’t match anything else, PLUS the new black and white rug. All false starts with no follow through.
I like the way the rug adds pattern, and it brings in a dark color without making the whole room dark. It is the only room in the house that has black though, which is a little strange to me. I don’t know if it’s out of place or if I just need to get used to it.

with the table and chairsIf I keep the rug, here’s what I’m thinking… I’d switch out the chair fabric for a different solid (pink? orange? lilac?), and paint the ceiling and walls above the picture rail the same color. The main walls would be cream or grey. Curtains could be creamy white with trim to tie in to the chair fabric. Whatever fabric I use for the curtain trim could also go in the hutch.
The zigzag chair and the rug don’t work together, though I was hoping they would. It’s one or the other, but I’m not sure which…
