I’ve been calling around for estimates. $110-$160/hour (for 3 or 4 guys) plus a flat rate of $55-$79 depending on the company. I think it will be totally worth it, even if we only hired them to move our books… 30 boxes, and counting! We’ll probably have at least 50 by the time we’re done. And they’re going up to the second floor in the new house. Eep! I think my arms would fall off after moving all of those heavy boxes!

January 23, 2007 at 1:00 pmIn Wisconsin, I used “Two Men & a Truck” and they were great. Quick, friendly and efficient.
As for wallpaper (from your previous post)…I read this week that Target now carries wallpaper. It’s on their website – not sure yet if the stores are carrying it.

January 23, 2007 at 10:33 pmI was checking out the photos of your cute current place and I’m sure you new home will be divine. I showed my husband the rug you have in your dining room and we both really like it. The color. The pattern. Where did it come from? toniasarah@gmail.com if you don’t mind. We move into our house in 3 weeks.

January 24, 2007 at 6:21 amwhen the BF and i moved into our new place (3rd floor apartment that is now home to 2 apartments’ worth of stuff) the thing we said over and over again was “we’re NOT moving again until we can afford to hire movers.”
to the super tightwad part of me it seems totally ridiculous and unnecessary but the rest of me KNOWS it’s a good idea and hey, it’s THEIR JOB right?
good luck!

January 25, 2007 at 10:42 pmTonia, I sent you an email but I’ll answer here too. The rug in my dining room is from west elm, and if you hurry you can grab it while they still have them (on sale, to boot)!

when we moved we found people to load and unload only. not that you are going very far, but the only part i didn’t want to do was load and unload. we found a large selection of movers at http://www.emove.com
good luck with it all! it is so exciting to have your own place!

January 26, 2007 at 9:45 amYeah… I am ALL FOR MOVERS, but Brandon is resisting. We have some people that are willing to help us with the move, but seriously – 50 heavy boxes of books PLUS everything else? Our friends and family are just not that burly.
