I bought a new lamp from Pier 1 yesterday. I’m not sure if it’s actually called “Chili” (I think that’s just the color), but it wasn’t on the website and I don’t remember what the name was on the tag.
I’m not 100% sure about it yet. Keep it? Return it?
It would be for my office. I love the lamp that I have in there now, but the power switch is somewhat broken and now it hurts my wrist to turn it off.
I’ve been thinking about getting the Lights Up! Nikki Table Lamp:
That one is $185 though, and the lamp that I bought was only $75. Still, I’d rather spend the extra money and get the lamp I really want instead of skimping and getting one that’s only so-so. The problem is that I’m not sure which one I want…

October 27, 2007 at 7:30 amThe color of the red lamp is brilliant! Maybe a white shade would make the color pop a bit more than the natural color of the current shade. If you can, buy both so you can set them up in the room decide in person. If you love the other one, though, go for it. $75 isn’t a good value if you don’t like the lamp.

October 27, 2007 at 9:24 amBoth lamps would go well in your home. You have a wonderful streamlined, eclectic style.
Personally though.. I love, love the Nikki Table Lamp!

October 27, 2007 at 9:32 amI like chili, but i agree. The shade is a bit meh. It needs a nice big barrel shade.
If you like the other one then get it! $100 isnt that much more to spend on something you really love.

October 27, 2007 at 9:46 amI like them both. Is there any way you could repair the switch on your current lamp or take it apart and rewire it with a totally new switch?

October 27, 2007 at 10:56 amI say the Chili, it’s very unique and you might regret not buying it later. I am now adding Pier 1 to my list of errands today! Hurray!

October 27, 2007 at 12:14 pmLOOOOVE the chili, I can’t believe it’s from Pier 1. I even like the shade. On the other hand, the Nikki lamp is a bit blah.

October 27, 2007 at 2:24 pmI’m with the others. I LOVE the Chili lamp and agree a whiter shade would really make it pop more.
I’m not crazy about the other option.

October 27, 2007 at 3:21 pmThe base of the “Chili” lamp has an interesting shap and the colour is gorgeous, but the lampshade is weird against the pink wall.

October 27, 2007 at 7:42 pmAgreed. Love the Chili base, but perhaps look at another shade. What a find, though! Well done.

October 27, 2007 at 9:39 pmThe red of the “Chili” lamp seems to go well with your desk chair and file cabinet. But I second (third? fourth?) the motion about trying a different shade.

October 29, 2007 at 7:55 amYou could rewire the old lamp you love, and get a socket with a new switch, or even a different kind of switch. I like the Nikki Lamp of the other choices.

October 29, 2007 at 8:18 amThe Nikki lamp has beautiful lines, while the Chili one is more fun and casual… I vote Nikki. It is more expensive, so maybe it comes down to your budget, but I’d go with the lamp you’re happiest with. Nikki is the best, I think.

October 31, 2007 at 2:42 pmYou showed the Chili with a white lampshade, out of curiosity, where were you planning to find a white shade? I have a heck of a time locating some shades for some fantastic garage sale finds (70s yellow 2′ lamps). I’ve tried lampplus.com, Target, Wal Mart, some lighting stores. You seem to find the perfect things for your home!

November 1, 2007 at 1:07 amKeep the chili lamp. That’s my vote. It looks vintage-y according to your photos and I really like that. The shape and texture is great. It goes more with your design sense than the white contemporary one. I’m not a fan of that one. It’s not “Nicole”. Nicole is more girly and sweet. :)
Have you considered triming the shade with velvet or grosgrain ribbon to add some oomph? I think trimming the top and bottom would be the sweetest.

June 17, 2009 at 5:42 pmI know this was about a year ago, but I really love that Chili lamp. I saw it in the stores a year or so ago and I didn’t buy it. I am so sad that missed out! If anyone knows of someone or somewhere I could buy it please contact me!
