Making it Yours (MIY) is a new feature for Making it Lovely. I’ll be following one piece of furniture through several stages in an imagined life and presenting a mood board for each. The first item I’m designing around is the Borghese 3-Drawer Dresser.
The dresser makes its first appearance in a very sweet, very sophisticated little girl’s nursery. Her parents have decided to buy a beautiful crib and bedding, and they’ve painted the walls a soft green. A Flokati rug underfoot will be a soft surface for baby to play on.
The dresser is standing in for a changing table with a changing pad placed on top, sharing space with a teddy bear. A feminine chandelier and graphic mobile hang overhead, and a there’s a cute print framed on the wall.
Next time, the little girl in this nursery will be a bit older and we’ll see how the dresser fits in to her teenage bedroom…

September 24, 2008 at 9:37 pmI love Sarah Jane Studios. I have her elephant print (I’m sure you’re not surprised) and I’ve had a few other “boy” prints marked as favorites for a while now.

September 24, 2008 at 9:49 pmI absolutely love that moodboard. Almost enough to run out and get pregnant – well no. Not quite that much. But maybe I can have a nursery without a baby?

September 25, 2008 at 7:51 amThis is a great series idea, and I am loving this room! The colors, bedding and chandlier are gorgeous. And I can just imagine how beautifully the light will reflect off the dresser. Makes me want to have another little girl. Not really, but almost :)

September 25, 2008 at 8:44 amI love it! Love how you didn’t make it girly with typical wall colors and bedding but with details like the lighting and the dresser. The bedding is very nice, too. And I love the print. I think the chandelier would be something a girld could use throughout her life, as well as the dresser.
But, why are you thinking about nurseries? Hmmm… :)
