People ask all the time about the lamps in my living room, but they’re no longer available. I bought them years ago from Crate & Barrel, and they were made by Robert Abbey.
Now, I know these aren’t the same (pale pink vs. white, different silhouette), but they are fairly similar. Feel free to ignore or embrace the fact that they are Mary-Kate and Ashley brand.
(Mary-Kate and Ashley accent lamp and table lamp available at Target.)

December 17, 2008 at 3:42 pmThey do lamps also?! The silhouettes are the same feel- good find…

December 17, 2008 at 4:21 pmI am in love with that mka olsen lamp! wow!
And they are marketing geniuses..my soph year of college(maybe junior?), I did a company profile on Dualstar..unreal.
But I digress, Love love your blog!

December 17, 2008 at 5:37 pmCool lamps but way too expensive for both the likes of Target and MKA, imho.

December 17, 2008 at 5:42 pmOh… I got so excited when I read you found a similar lamp sold by Target. I thought I was going to score with a cheap Target lamp… but it’s $145. :(
I have wanted a white “genie” lamp for a while to replace my husband’s bachelor black lamps.
Great find, and it doesn’t bother me they are Mary-Kate and Ashley – very cute.
There is also this one from Crate & Barrel for $179

December 17, 2008 at 6:30 pmLovely, I was only saying to hubby (re:wallpaper post) that I loved your lamp. I also have a thing for clear or coloured glass vase bases. Cheers for the MKA lamps… now how to get to OZ…

December 17, 2008 at 7:40 pmanother very similar one is the kathryn table lamp from crate+barrel:
http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1220&f=23757
costs a little more, but also nicer, I think.

December 17, 2008 at 9:51 pmSimilar…but your lamp is pink and perky, and theirs is a little sad and dumpy in comparison. Pink wins! Also, congrats a thousand times on your little baby to be!!!

December 17, 2008 at 10:01 pmYour lamp is like their lamp with a boob job. =P

December 17, 2008 at 10:51 pmHa!
I like that ‘kathryn’ lamp too (I hadn’t noticed it before). It is a bit nicer – more refined.
Michelle, the font is by Ali Edwards.

December 18, 2008 at 12:15 amI love your site! I hope you will forgive (and answer!) a random question not pertaining to the lovely lamps above. I’ve noticed on other parts of your site that you have some nice cafe-style curtains… I particularly like the rods (I’m having a hard time finding some clean, modern ones for the specific purpose of the cafe curtain). Can you tell me where you got those and whether you have some other wisdom about this style of window-covering? Also I seem to recall that you made your own Roman shade, but can’t seem to find it on the site. Thanks!

December 18, 2008 at 12:18 amAre you thinking of my kitchen curtains? I did sew those myself, and I just used tension rods to hold them (invisibly) in place. https://makingitlovely.com/2007/08/28/finished-kitchen/

December 18, 2008 at 12:41 amLove the kitchen shades—thanks for the link, and I’m totally going to try to do that once I learn how to… sew (oh, details!). With respect to the hardware question, I was actually thinking of the curtains in Brandon’s office (from the recent post in which you are talking about the Eames rocking chair (and I’m looking at something completely different, of course!). Next time, I will stay on subject. Anyway, the curtains in there are just so sweet without being too sweet, and that’s the rod I was talking about.

December 18, 2008 at 8:59 amDepending on the shade fabric, it would be easy enough to dye the shade a pale pink if someone wanted to, to get a little closer to yours. ^_^

December 18, 2008 at 10:42 amOff topic:
The rods in Brandon’s office look very much like ones I just bought from Rejuvenation
http://www.rejuvenation.com/typepageCafe%20Rod%20Sets/templates/houseparts_group.html
I still like your lamp better.
Making it Lovely
December 18, 2008 at 11:19 amOh, the rod in Brandon’s office was actually already there. I think it’s the only window hardware that was pre-existing that we kept! The Rejuvenation link from Elissa looks pretty much like the same thing (thanks Elissa).

December 19, 2008 at 2:02 amJust wanted to unnecessarily add that I have the Kathryn from Crate & Barrel & looove it in the room. A while back when I saw your lamp I thought it looked similar to mine, and like it could be crate & barrel:)

Your blog and website are absolutely fantastic – I’ve bookmarked them and added the RSS feed to my email. As a new homeowner, mother-to-be and graphic designer I’m always looking for inspiration. I adore your style! Can’t wait to see what follows!
