I think sweater vests are terribly cute, especially this striped red one with a simple white t-shirt underneath. A black pencil skirt and low red heels make the vest seem more feminine, and the little librarian pin is a cute touch. The yellow resin necklace is a quirky addition (I actually bought it recently and I’ve been wearing it nonstop), and the yellow clutch finishes off the outfit.
Maternity Version
I couldn’t find an option for the vest, so I’d go with something different like this button front shirt paired with a black maternity pencil skirt.

February 2, 2009 at 12:22 pmI bet you are the cutest most stylish lil’ pregnant woman in town! I always am excited to see your fashion picks they are really accessible with a touch of quirk thrown in. ‘Touch’, I mean I can’t go too quirky, I am so not brave, but a yellow resin necklace? Would have never looked twice but totally can see how that would work with so much! Thank you Miss Nicole!

February 2, 2009 at 1:29 pmI love your monthly outfits and wish I could have the inspiration when I was pregnant last year. Unfortunately after the baby I’m still facing wardrobe challenges. I am going to an evening wedding in March in Los Angeles. I have tons of great dresses but since I’m breastfeeding (and will have my little one with me at the wedding) I need something more, um, accessible. What would you wear? I’m at a lost. Thanks so much and look forward to more great fashionable finds!

February 2, 2009 at 1:46 pmI love it, but I’m sad that you couldn’t find a sweater vest for your maternity outfit. I do have to say though, that both ensembles are terrific!

February 3, 2009 at 1:11 pmHey Megan,
I know you were asking Nicole, but I thought I’d add my 2 cents about formal wear when nursing – I would wear a nursing tank under a wrap top, and glam up the outfit with a fancy skirt and accessories, and wear a pretty shawl or wrap as your outer layer and then use that as a nursing cover.

February 4, 2009 at 10:14 pmWell, since I am off from maternity mode for the last 5 months, I think I’m kinda miss those maternity wear (but I don’t miss the puffy version of me). I think the librarian is a great look for every woman, every occasion, pregnant or not! I’m so glad you pick for both types of women.
