We’ve come to the last look in this fourth edition of Making it Yours (MiY). This one may be my favorite, though it’s a toss-up because I really liked the first look as well.
The bed, sofa, lighting, and tables that we have followed throughout this edition are here again. Sheer shades instead of curtains, a black rug, and a creamy gray wall color help the room feel restful and modern. I’ve added ochre bedding (paired with white sheets) and a black bedspread, along with art that picks up on those colors. A green velvet pillow matches the sofa, and an interesting vase (that I found via Design*Sponge) would be beautiful in this room.
You can go back and see each previous design in more detail: 4a: Striking Stripes and Polka Dots, 4b: Feminine Moorish, 4c: Fresh Picked, and 4d: Seaside Fair.
This was an interesting challenge because normally I only use one piece of furniture for my MiY series. The four items in this edition were not inexpensive, but I wanted to show that you can invest in a quality base while allowing for different styles with easy changes. What do you think? Did you have a favorite out of the five designs?

February 22, 2010 at 11:31 amHi Nicole,
I love all your mood boards, and am wondering what program you use to create them? You’ve likely answered this before so I’ll check your search button. I am just beginning a re-do of my bungalow, and would love to use this planning tool.
Thanks for a great blog,
Dana

February 22, 2010 at 11:47 amI loved Seaside Fair and Feminine Moorish the best although I love all of them and how one can achieve a different look with just a few changes.

February 22, 2010 at 12:03 pmMy favorite is fresh picked. I absolutely love the splashes of red. My next fave is Feminine Moorish, and if the room was just for me (and didn’t include my boyfriend) I might lean towards that one. But the fresh picked is a nice blend of calming, feminine, and masculine.

February 22, 2010 at 12:07 pmThey’re all so lovely but my favorite is Seaside Fair. Those colors just sing to me! I really love the MIY series–your mood boards are a work of art.

February 22, 2010 at 1:41 pmI love the first one (striking stripes and polka dots) still, but this last one (subdued) is a close runner up! I just love that studio sofa.

February 22, 2010 at 5:33 pmThank you for posting this! I have always shied away from furniture pieces I’ve loved because they weren’t in neutral colors, but this has really helped open my eyes! (there’s a teal colored recamier from Horchow that I love and may buy now!) It IS possible to grow design wise, but still work with what you have!
Please continue to do the MiY series! Your boards are inspiration and I also appreciate that you create looks that could work for a few different tastes.

February 22, 2010 at 7:09 pmMy favorite is #2, the Moorish theme. I ordered the duvet cover you posted and it is gorgeous! I really like the vase and painting in your final mood board and how everything melds with that just right pop of color. These mood boards are so special. Please keep doing them; I’ve learned a ton.

February 23, 2010 at 1:31 amI love Seaside Fair, the perfect fresh air in the morning! I´m helping my mother to change her bedroom and I´ve done some product boards in order to keep ideas clear. They are in my blog:

Love your blog, and particularly your pink-blush-peach approach to life, it´s fantastic!

February 23, 2010 at 10:06 amI really like this one. Mature but not the least bit boring. I also really liked the more girly designs (Moorish and Seaside). After years of trying to keep my decor somewhat gender neutral (as not to scare away a man), I have recently started adding bits of pink to my bedroom and it makes me so happy! Thanks for all of your inspiration.

February 23, 2010 at 6:25 pmThis one might be my favorite. I’m not sure if it’s because I have that IKEA blanket, or because I’m in love with a painting I keep seeing at our local Sunday arts & crafts show in the same white, black and yellow tones (but of a forest). I think the Dwell bedding from the 1st installment (also a fantastic mood board) would also be great with all this.
I always look forward to your design compositions, no matter if they are interior (or exterior) design or fashion related. Thank you!

February 24, 2010 at 4:45 pmThe feminine moorish edition made me want to redo my bedroom, so I think it’s my favorite. This was fun!
