I’ve found another new version of a thrifted item that I have. This time it’s an elephant plant stand.* It’s a little kooky, no? Sometimes I like a little touch of the bizarre (or even a little ugly) in decor. It keeps things interesting!

March 31, 2010 at 10:25 amI used to have a white elephant side table, but not nearly so nice as any of those. Yours makes me think about getting one again.

March 31, 2010 at 11:34 amI love that chair. Someone emailed me asking about it so I went to look it up (it’s from Pottery Barn), and it looks like they aren’t selling it anymore.

March 31, 2010 at 7:41 pmVery sad about the egg chair, because it rocks!
However, everyone should have at least one elephant somewhere in the house. I have a handmade one my stepdaughter made my in third grade….

March 31, 2010 at 12:09 pmNicole I love this! And as a girl without yard (me) I am so envious of anyone who has a mere postage stamp of green space never mind an entire front and backyard that can fit small lawn animals. :) Your yard is my happy place. :)

March 31, 2010 at 2:07 pmFunny, I posted the cheap $20 to my husband in IM and he’s all..GRABBIT! BUY IT NOW! I NEVER see those things cheap!
I never thought something on your blog would move him so much… Think I am going to spray paint it glossy white each year and use it for my iced tea while I read.

March 31, 2010 at 2:30 pmFirst, I love elephants. My collection of elephant things is ridiculous. Second, I love that you’ve been featuring places to purchase items like the ones you have. It’s really helpful. Thank you. I came across an elephant laundry hamper on another website and am in love!

March 31, 2010 at 2:51 pmI have a similar ceramic elephant that I love! My dad bought it 25 or 30 years ago at Pier 1. It’s survived at least a half-dozen moves with the tusks still intact. (And it’s nice to know that they’re still popular.)

April 1, 2010 at 7:31 amMy parents have a similar plant stand in their living room. My sister and I have argued for years over who will get the elephant when my parents get rid of it. Problem solved!

April 2, 2010 at 2:37 amhhaha, funny you said that, the other day my friend and I were taking about this: to be really creative you have to appreciete the beauty of something really and trully ugly. I love a little bit of beautiful uglyness aroud the house. It also shows a wonderful sense of humour. Like movies that are sooooo bad that, at the end, they are pretty good.

April 5, 2010 at 4:46 amI have two black ceramic elephants in my courtyard – I love them! Found them at Bunnings Hardware (Australia). I think they will look more at home once I get more plants in glossy black pots.

April 7, 2010 at 10:50 pmnot too long ago, pier 1 had little elephant side tables. same style and color, but done in wicker. adorable for outside. since i don’t have the outdoor setting for one (or a couple!) i was very tempted to bring it inside :D i haven’t checked in a while, but you still might be able to find them hiding in stores…and probably on clearance price.

April 14, 2010 at 2:44 pmPier 1 still has the wicker elephant side tables. I worked there until recently, and they are a fairly new item here in VA. For a while our store only carried the white option, and just a couple months ago started getting the natural wicker elephants in stock. That said, they probably won’t be clearanced for a while, but they are adorable and I loved them when we got them in the store!

April 14, 2010 at 2:43 pmI love your elephant planter! I have a thrifted elephant, too! It was black when I found it last summer living in a local goodwill. I bought it for less than $15, took it home and spray painted it. It makes me super happy, even though I don’t particularly love elephants. I don’t dislike them either. Just never gave much thought to them until recently.
