Substituting for the Soleil Chair

I’m turning my attention once again to the front porch. Remember, I gave the furniture that was out there to my mom (whom I visiting this weekend for her birthday, so maybe I’ll get some photos of the table and chairs in her yard).

I got as far as putting new benches on each end of the porch before stalling out and moving on to other projects. Summer is short though, and I want to finish so I’m back on the job! I think I just need to add a chair, a little side table or maybe a coffee table, plus plants. I’ve always liked this Soleil Lounge Chair, but I recently realized that I have a similarly shaped chair already. It was from Pier 1 (a long time ago). Here it is in a photo from a few years back:

front porch

I know it’s not an exact match, but it’s free. I’m considering spray painting it, though I don’t know what color. In white I think the lines of the chair would make it a decent substitute for the Soleil, but why limit myself to white? I mean, there’s always pink. Or yellow. Or green. Or…

I love the chair. May I suggest you paint it orange? It’s my four-year-old’s favorite color so we now have a lot of orange it our house. It’s a fantastic color–unexpected, whimsical, and fun.

I really like your Pier 1 Chair – the texture of the wicker looks great!! The dark looks good but it would look cute painted white too!

I like this chair better than the Soleil! More texture! I think white is out…but some of those other colors??

Green immediately came to mind but orange and yellow aren’t bad either.

I like the shape of your Pier 1 chair better! I think a bright shade of any color would look great!

I second the punchy orange idea! Pier 1 was one of my first jobs (many moons ago) and I remember never having much of a paycheck after I was done shopping with my discount. :(

Hear me out…I know it sounds crazy, but have you considered silver? Like an aluminum color? Sometimes I love when an unexpected texture like wicker is suddenly metallic. It would be amazing with a colorful pillow.

Oh fill me in on this plant stands! We’re renters with just a little patio garden and I’ve been looking for a fun way to elevate my plants.

Ooh… so many choices! I’d go with white, and then add a colorful throw pillow.

Nice! I like this chair, too! How about painting it hot pink or bright blue?

Have you considered a bright green, like a lemon?? By the way, if you ever decide to part with your egg chair let me know. I have been trying to locate one with no luck.

I’d paint the wicker white but leave the metal frame black.

I also vote for orange! So summery and fun! Or maybe you could stencil on (or free-hand) a design that kind of mimics the rug you painted on the porch?

I LOVE the chair just as it is and better than the Soleil. If you absolutely must paint it, I think silver would look really cool….but really, I think you should leave it as is. :)
