An abandoned men’s club was restored and is now a home, but the peeling paint was carefully preserved. It looks amazing, and one probably grows desensitized when living there, but I imagine it would feel really creepy inside.

February 9, 2013 at 5:50 amThank you for the link to the article on Frida Kahlo. I plan to share it with my AP Studio Art students. When they made self portraits a few months ago, we looked closely at how Frida painted and expressed herself. This article adds a whole other dimension to it. As a fan of her work, it was a fascinating read and one I would have never found on my own. So thanks again for the link.

February 9, 2013 at 7:25 amNicole, I was somewhat taken in by your first article and read up about the Gentlemen’s Club. Fascinating rennovation (if you can call it that?) and very emotive. Similarly the article on Kahlo was very interesting! What a horrific injury she suffered from the bus accident!
Incredible!

February 15, 2013 at 12:35 pmRock n’ Roll McDonalds will always remind me of the beginning of mine and my husband’s relationship. It was one of our first “inside” jokes.

February 9, 2013 at 3:06 pmOh boy!! The Frida Kahlo piece has my head spinning & my heart racing. She is so dear to my heart, I just love learning about the reality behind her gorgeously artistic life. Thank you so much for the link!

February 10, 2013 at 9:29 amOkay, so I’m feeling inspired to get back to painting my living room now that I’ve read your post on Colortopia and realized that it’s going to be spring soon and I’m not going to want to be inside with my roller. I think I just got worn out after doing the office. Also, the idea of moving the television unit and then moving it back kind of scares me. But it must be done!
Also, that gentlemen’s club is sexy to look at but utterly creepy. I got the heebie jeebies just looking at the pictures.
ALSO, speaking of Grey Gardens, did you this episode of The New Normal? Divine. :)

February 10, 2013 at 10:52 amMen’s clue intriguing, if creepy. A very haunted look. Thanks for the link. I have tried to find your list of favorite blogs which must be here but I’m missing it. Always interesting to see what blogs bloggers admire.

February 10, 2013 at 8:07 pmAmazingly I just saw that Frida Kahlo exhibit over the holidays. It was quite moving and I learned alot about her that I never knew. The Blue House was very crowded the day we were there, but it was great. If you are in Mexico City I would highly recommend it!

Maybe I missed my window, which is just too bad so sad for me. I’ve just been super obsessed with their stuff for a while, so I was hoping! Thanks, lady! :)
