I went on a walking tour of the Pullman neighborhood yesterday wearing what I thought were comfortable shoes. Six blisters. A personal record! (I carry bandages in my purse because I’m a mom, but I also carry Band-Aids for Blisters, heels and toes, because women’s shoes are stupid sometimes. Those things make walking bearable today.) So I need some new summer sandals. Low to mid block heel, tan, not too clunky, not a clog. Any suggestions for the magical mix of comfort and style? I stopped in at Nora’s Shoe Shop after the kids’ exams and I think these might be the ones.
Or I could make these.

I asked E if she would be rude to me when she’s a teenager. “Probably.”

June 16, 2017 at 8:50 pmI can tell you as the mom of a 13 almost 14 year old that all of those things listed are so spot on!!! It was like reading an essay about my own daughter, brace yourself! It’s crazy but wonderful too.

June 18, 2017 at 7:59 pmThe 14-year-old essay . . . well, I wish I had the warm spots to balance out our endless cold spots. I have recently decided to stop complaining about my son because it doesn’t help anything but I certainly have questioned everything about my parenting for seven long years. He has just recently started looking at me like I might be human and he’s 18 now. Ok, now I am really going to stop complaining about him. Our sustaining narrative has centered around dogs as we are both animal lovers and through it all, have been able to reach out over the years and say, “oh look, a puppy.”

June 20, 2017 at 1:22 pmI suppose everyone goes through that period of adjustment in the teen years, to a greater or lesser extent. Puppies can get you through — is that the takeaway? :)

June 23, 2017 at 10:19 amMy good walking sandals this summer are Trotters’ Eden Wedges — http://amzn.to/2tWOzwi — nicely cushioned sole, subtle elastic for stretch on each step. (And it’s available in wide sizes and narrow sizes, too.) :-)

June 27, 2017 at 1:37 pmHi Nicole.
A little late in commenting but I just found out about Mole Skin. You put it on your heels BEFORE walking or wearing killer shoes and it keeps your shoes from rubbing and giving you a blister. NO PAIN and it has totally changed my “shoe world”. You’ll find it at any drug store or Target or Walmart or wherever you shop in the same aisle as all the other pedi stuff.
: )
