I was putting this outfit together and thinking “hmm, this is a little dressier than I’ve been doing lately. Where would I wear this? It would be perfect for a speaking engagement, but when would I… oh, right! I’m speaking on a panel at Tech Week! This would be perfect for that.” And it would be, except for a little thing called shipping. I’m speaking this Saturday at 11am, and I don’t need anything badly enough to overnight it. And yes, I can go out and actually pick up these things, but not with a toddler and a baby in the middle of Chicago’s biggest heat wave in five years. Oh well, ’tis not meant to be.
The feminine top (with a cami underneath) would be cute with a colorful pencil skirt and heels. The black bangle and pink earrings are a nice contrast to the frilly top, and I like the unexpected green of the nail polish. And then the book clutch is just perfect.
So there you go. That’s what I would be wearing this Saturday had I planned ahead. (I have a perfectly fine dress that I’ll probably wear instead.)

July 19, 2011 at 5:17 pmI feel like I should add too that I have shoes that would work (no need to buy a new pair, though those above are cute). And the book clutch… yeah, I can’t justify it just for a single event. Pretty darn adorable though. #addittothewishlist

July 20, 2011 at 11:52 amCute, Cute, Cute. I’m another one who loves the earings. I especially like the balance of the formality of the pencil skirt with the more casual blouse.
