    wow, you do not have teenagers in your life, do you? Every single one of mine wants an ipod touch or an ipad and would have no idea how to work a turntable, & wouldn’t want to waste time with a cd either :)

    Now, old people in your life? This is perfect!

      I agree. I can’t see anyone on my list wanting this – or even understanding what it is (teens/kids). With alomost all music being available digitally and easily saved on a computer, I would think all the albums would just cause clutter. Plus, isn’t the sound quality horrible? Seems like more of a hipster gift.

        Vinyl is making a comeback for sure. Most kids are becoming more aware of the technology. I work at a music store, so I’m around teenagers all the time. As for sound quality, what the ear finds pleasing is subjective. Pops and hisses can be preferred to digital purity.

      I agree with Sarah that most wouldn’t want a CD these days. Vinyl is different though, and would still be appreciated. It’s a blanket statement to say that all teenagers would like something (just like it would be to say that all men or all women would like something), but there are plenty of teens that would love it.

        I agree :) the kids I actually like in my family love my uncle’s turntable and his awesome collection of albums, including Abby Road and, a favorite of mine, Abba.

      I’m 15 and I have one of these on my Christmas list! I have a collection of vinyls including some by the Beatles. :)And cds are completely different.

    This is a great idea, and trust me, many many teens would love this. Vinyl is back! This is the perfect starter turntable (I own a similiar Crosley model)– the sound is great, it’s very portable and it has a USB hookup.

    There’s something so wonderful about the act of listening to a record – sliding it out of its sleeve, opening the turntable, placing the needle just so… And the music sounds so much more “real.” There is such a lovely depth to it that you just don’t get with digital music!

    I love the way vinyl sounds vs digital music — something very pure about it! I’ve thought about getting my younger sister a turntable. She appreciates this kind of stuff.

    Great gift idea! I’m glad I grew up with a turntable and that my husband shares my love for records. I just wish he’d learn to use the headphones I got him when he listens to what I deem ‘questionable’ hehe :)

    I am 26yo and asked Santa for a record player this year: the Ion iProfile (to be exact). Love it because it plays records, but will also allow me to transfer my mom’s records into digital format for my iphone/ipad.

    I bought my husband one of those crosley suitcase record players about 10 years ago! It’s our travel record player, so we can play records in the hotel room, etc.! It’s still going strong and has held up well! Did you see that cosley is now selling a more 70’s version – in red+black plastic. It’s so cute!

    I totally bought Urban Outfitters Turquoise colored turn table 2 years ago for my xmas gift to myself. LOVE IT!!! I love playing Ella Fitzgerald this time of year when guests are over. Can’t beat the sound!
