This may be the new choice for the dining room. If I’m not going with clouds coming in, or a grayscale forest etching, why not hedges full of keys?
The wallpaper design is Fornasetti II Chiavi Segrete, from Cole & Son. It’s lush, mysterious, and just a bit sinister. Perfect for the Victorian, yes?
It solves a few of the problems that I had with the other options. It’s meant to be a repeating pattern, not a mural, so the application will be seamless. And it’s pricey, but less expensive than grisaille wallpapers I wanted. I have high hopes for this one! Samples are on the way.

They are ridiculously amazing. I am debating on 3 and wondering if I should just wallpaper another area because it is that good.

June 2, 2014 at 4:56 pmI ordered a sample of that too, since I was already ordering these (they’re all by Cole & Son). The nuvole/nuvolette pattern would be about $6000 to do the whole dining room though, and I’m not sure I want to take that plunge (even with some time to save up for it). This design is still expensive, but the whole room would be around $1500.

June 3, 2014 at 10:55 amI feel like if you see yourself in this house for a long time, the nuvolette would be worth it. Otherwise, if you see yourself selling the house or redecorating in X amount of time, then this design is better. The light cream one is my favorite.

I have a very Balch-specific question, too—I don’t normally tend to be drawn towards pale pinks, but the tile in our bathroom is all pink beige and I think that instead of fighting it I should pick a wallpaper that’s even pinker to help downplay the pinky beigeyness. Since you like pink, and you’ve been perusing wallpaper like mad as of late, have you come across any designs that you think would work that are in that color scheme?

That’s what I had to do with the blue tub and toilet in the first house — decorate around it as though I wanted them to be there! I seem to be on a big Hygge & West kick lately (alternating with Cole & Son picks), but they have some pink wallpapers you might like if you want to go in that direction.

June 3, 2014 at 12:20 pmThe gray is similar to the grisaille styles I like so much, but the green might look fantastic in the dining room. We don’t get as much light in there as we do in the rest of the house, and jewel tones and bolder colors are usually a good choice for rooms like that.
