Shop Home Décor for modern luxury made easy.
Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away, and then we’ll be looking forward to Christmas! To get in the spirit of the season, I set a festive fall/winter holiday table with items I already had on hand mixed in with some new finds from Target.
I wanted to work with gold and silver for most of the decor, but a red runner made a colorful base for everything else to play off of. I love the way the polka dot fabric napkins look with it!
I added candlesticks in two heights, and then picked up several sizes of silver frosted mason jars. I used the smallest jars to hold tealights as intended, but instead of putting candles in the others, I used the larger ones as flower vases.
The table was set with our everyday silverware and classic white plates. So many of us have those standards on hand, but they felt more special with gold chargers at each seat.
The centerpieces were fun to arrange. I think that white ‘flower’ is in the cabbage family. Plus berries! I always go for the berries this time of year.
All together, the mix of metallics and the candlelight feel perfect for special occasions. I’m looking forward to using the decorations throughout the year for other dinners and holidays, too!

November 10, 2014 at 10:07 amI was just there looking for some napkins – and I LOVE those polka dotted ones, but I don’t even see them on the Target website… are they from there?

November 10, 2014 at 12:10 pmI don’t see them on the site now either, but they were from the store! I think they were near the Oh Joy! stuff on an endcap, not with the other linens.

November 10, 2014 at 10:33 amThose mason jars are beautiful. I love the floral arrangements too. I just used those same berries in the bouquets for my wedding this fall. :)

November 10, 2014 at 5:18 pmVery nice. ; )) Simple + fancy! A few years back, I was tempted to purchase similar chairs at Sundance. Very pricey at that time. Kinda timid they might be cold on the bum though. Ha! Nicole, noticing paint color on walls …. is this the soft pale pink? Even with kiddos, everything looks great! Best of Thanksgiving.

November 11, 2014 at 9:22 amThey can be a bit cold on bare legs. The ease of cleaning is worth it though with little kids in the house! I’d love fabric chairs, but we had them for a while and they started to get dirty very quickly. And the paint color is the cream color that the house had when we bought it — haven’t chosen a color/wallpaper yet.

November 10, 2014 at 8:56 pmThis is so pretty Nicole and I love the polka dot napkins also. I wonder if I could get that effect with fabric paint on white napkins I already have a slew of white napkins that I hardly ever use. I’m going to check out a craft store and see what is available. Come to think of it I was looking at the stamp collection yesterday and the store had a really cute Turkey. Polka dots and Turkeys. What a concept! Or maybe not?

November 11, 2014 at 9:23 amI’m sure you can do something similar! Andrea did a tutorial for Easter on the site a couple of years ago with polka dot painted napkins. I’d skip the turkeys though — too limiting to just Thanksgiving.

November 11, 2014 at 7:32 amThe candlesticks are my favorite on this table. A nice balance of drama and utility. Do you usually host any dinners/gatherings at your house during the holidays?

November 11, 2014 at 9:25 amWe don’t host Thanksgiving, but we do host a brunch on Christmas Eve and a dinner on Christmas. This table will be great for those meals, and I might add a few ornaments in there too.

November 12, 2014 at 8:46 amThis table is gorgeous. However, I’d love to see something with lower centerpieces so you can talk to the person across the table.
