Wow! I feel like she went from a baby at 19 months to a little girl this month! So adorable.

Such a pretty lil lady! Can’t believe how much she has grown.

What an adorable series of photos. I’m curious how many you take to pick from each time?

    • Making it Lovely December 29, 2010 at 2:03 pm #

I take between 50-100 each month (most are sequential shots, so the whole photo shoot doesn’t last more than a few minutes). From there I can usually narrow it down to about five that are really good, and then I pick the best one from those.

    Fabulous idea. I’m stealing it.

I love the Christmas tree…and I love Eleanor’s smile in the main photo! With the pink tree, the whole photo is prettily vintage looking!

oh don’t stop! are you going to do it yearly after she is two? what a fabulous keepsake!!!

  7. Rachel December 29, 2010 at 2:52 pm #

She’s getting so big! I love the pink Christmas tree. There is no way Clay would be cool with one of those in our house so I’ll have to live vicariously through your pics. Hope you had a great Christmas!

    What a cutie!

I have a question. First, why did you decide to take monthly photos for two whole years? I’ve been going up to two years for my son (who is 16 months) since I saw you’re going to two years, but I don’t see much difference now from month to month! Do you think you’ll go all the way up to two years for #2?

    • Making it Lovely December 29, 2010 at 4:07 pm #

The changes are definitely not as pronounced in the second year from month to month, and that’s why I’m not going past two. I always figured I’d rather take too many than stop at one year and wish I had gone further, and two years seemed like a nice length of time. I do plan on doing a full two years for #2 as well, and then yearly after that for each.

I so amazing to see how she’s grown. She’s precious.

Eleanor’s photos are always cute, but this month’s is really special, somehow. She’s growing into SUCH a beautiful little lady.

You might consider taking a shot on their “half-birthdays” up to about 6 years. I have been shocked at the changes in my niece Elena over the course of each six months when I flip back through my photos of her. She’s finally getting to the age (6 1/2) where she doesn’t change as much, but it’s still a shocker looking through snaps when she has shot up in height or her features have rearranged themselves to look older.

    • Making it Lovely December 29, 2010 at 9:06 pm #

That’s a good idea to do the half-birthdays as well. I think I will.

  13. Jane December 29, 2010 at 5:56 pm #

My brother does a weekly video of my niece, on a Wednesday (the day she was born), and uploads it to Facebook. It’s not so organised as you, she’s always doing something different, but it’s so nice to look back and see how much she has changed. He just uploaded Week 60 today, and he said he doesn’t feel he can stop now! I joked about Week 2060, and he laughed and said that he didn’t think Molly would be letting him make videos and upload them by then – she’ll be 39!

This is a fabulous idea, and such a lovely keepsake. I’m sure it’s something that Eleanor will treasure when she’s old enough to appreciate it!

Happy New Year Nicole – looking forward to reading you into 2011!

Hi Nicole, I have been a avid reader of your blog for some time.. Love it btw. I am finally expecting and not sure if I am having a girl or boy.. but I love the name Eleanor for such a long time, i would love to name my little girl if I do have one that name… .. I have to ask do you ever call her Ellie for short what do you friends and family call her?
Thanks so much for your help!!

    • Making it Lovely December 29, 2010 at 9:05 pm #

There are so many nicknames for the name Eleanor (Ellie, Elle, Ella, Nell, Nelly…), but we call her Nora for short.

I absolutely LOVE this idea. How I wish I had something like this of my own daughter. She’s nine now and I know she would love it. Plus, I ADORE your pink and white rug!

  22. Amanda December 30, 2010 at 11:09 pm #

This pose is so cute. I have to ask, what do you plan on doing with them? Frame some, frame them as a group, put them in a photo binder?

  23. urbanblonde December 31, 2010 at 7:43 pm #

Awwwww what a sweetheart! She’s definitely looking like an almost 2 year old here! Hope you will continue this with baby brother on the same chair!

    Happy New Year!

  24. urbanblonde December 31, 2010 at 7:47 pm #

    Whoops! Almost forgot!

We continued this by photographing our kids at the front door on the first day of school every year. We started at preschool and went right through to almost high school (ha ha) Didn’t matter that we moved houses, it was great to see the changes year after year. Took one of each of them and one together.

We got the idea from an old Ladies Home Journal or Good Housekeeping mag from the 60s we found that had a girl and her dad in front of their front door every year. They continued until she was about 20 I believe.

  25. Natalie January 1, 2011 at 10:21 am #

She is sooo cute! Gosh I still love your beautiful, pink Living Room!

    Happy New Year!! :)

  26. Liz January 1, 2011 at 10:40 am #

What an adorable idea! I wish I had thought to do that . . . although we moved twice during my daughter’s first two years, so I couldn’t have had such a nice, consistent spot.

And, it may be odd to say, being that the picture is of your daughter, but I love your couch! (or what I can see of it)

  27. D January 2, 2011 at 1:46 am #

Holy cuteness. I’m newly preggers and seriously? I juuuust may have to steal this. I’ll give you proper credit of course! And, I’ll even forgo from taking shots in our own rocker. I know, I know, I’m very generous.

Thanks for the idea! And, your daughter is beautiful.
