Maybe Tomorrow?

I wanted to post photos of the nursery today, I really did. Perhaps if I had one of those babies that, you know, slept, I could get some things done around here. Eleanor’s a doll, but she’s not familiar with the whole nap concept.

Eleanor, Not Sleeping

“What? I’m supposed to do what all day? Uh, no.”

The nursery photos are forthcoming, I promise.

At long last, I’ve photographed the finished nursery! Can you hear the collective cry of “finally”? Before I post all of the photos (I’m editing them now), here’s a little board for the room…

The Nursery

Washed, Folded, Sorted, Labeled, Stored

Brandon thought it was very funny that I had to go to the trouble of labeling these bins of baby clothes. “Can’t you just open them up and see what sizes are inside,” he asked.

Yes, but this makes me so much happier. ;)

Jenny Lind Style

We chose a Jenny Lind crib for the nursery. I love the classic design, and Brandon and I each slept in one when we were babies.

I chose black, though everyone else seems to pick white. I didn’t want the room to get too pastel and girly, so I figured a few dark brown/black elements would be nice.

Here are a few other Jenny Lind cribs and beds I’ve noticed…

Rockin’ Out

Brandon and I went out to test rocking chairs and gliders this weekend, and we chose an upholstered glider with a matching ottoman for the nursery. SO COMFORTABLE. I think I could have taken a nap right there in the store it was so big and squishy and soft.

And then of course, we have the gorgeous new Eames rocker for the living room. The rocker is an 80/20 mix of style vs. comfort (though it is still very comfortable), and the glider is an 80/20 mix of comfort vs. style (though it’s not bad for a glider). Form and function for each, just in different ratios.
