Nursery

Eleanor’s Nursery

OK. Let me start by saying that I love my glider. LOVE IT. It takes up half the nursery but it’s my favorite spot in the house. I nurse in it, I rock in it, I sleep in it.

Our changing table is just a changing pad set atop bookshelves with doors. [...]

Maybe Tomorrow?

I wanted to post photos of the nursery today, I really did. Perhaps if I had one of those babies that, you know, slept, I could get some things done around here. Eleanor’s a doll, but she’s not familiar with the whole nap concept.

“What? I’m supposed to do what all day? [...]

The Nursery, Resources

At long last, I’ve photographed the finished nursery! Can you hear the collective cry of “finally”? Before I post all of the photos (I’m editing them now), here’s a little board for the room…

Big Money, Big Money, No Whammy!

There are several big house projects that we’d like to work on, if only we had the cash. Maybe a $5000 bonus would help? (Hint, hint, have you voted yet today?)
We need a new window in Eleanor’s room.
The one that’s there now is actually falling off of the house — yikes! While [...]

Washed, Folded, Sorted, Labeled, Stored

Brandon thought it was very funny that I had to go to the trouble of labeling these bins of baby clothes. “Can’t you just open them up and see what sizes are inside,” he asked.
Yes, but this makes me so much happier. ;)

Jenny Lind Style

We chose a Jenny Lind crib for the nursery. I love the classic design, and Brandon and I each slept in one when we were babies.

I chose black, though everyone else seems to pick white. I didn’t want the room to get too pastel and girly, so I figured a few dark [...]

Rockin’ Out

Brandon and I went out to test rocking chairs and gliders this weekend, and we chose an upholstered glider with a matching ottoman for the nursery. SO COMFORTABLE. I think I could have taken a nap right there in the store it was so big and squishy and soft.
And then of course, we [...]

Toy Storage / Play Area

The nursery has very strange little alcoves at each end. One side is setup as a closet, but the other side is just open. It looked like this when we moved in:

I had painted the woodwork white and sewn white curtains to close the space off when we had the room setup as [...]

Pink Painted Dresser

The dresser for the nursery is finally finished. I never took a true ‘before’ shot, but it was a lovely wood dresser with a poor finish. It was in our garage for a while and then it sat primed in the basement because I wasn’t sure what color to paint it. White [...]

No More Popcorn Ceiling

The popcorn has given way to a smooth, flat ceiling, thanks to Brandon’s hard work. As I mentioned before, the ceiling did not contain asbestos (always check before removing because many popcorn ceilings do), so we felt comfortable trying to remove it. It came down easily enough in just a few hours (he [...]
