He’s somewhere between 4-6 months old, and we adopted him today from the Animal Care League here in Oak Park.
He has the best personality – he’s just super sweet, calm, and lovable. He went between snuggling up to me and snuggling up to Brandon most of the time, just back and forth, wanting to be pet.
We took him for a walk (he was very good), and we can visit him Monday and Tuesday. He’s getting neutered on Wednesday, and then we can go pick him up on Thursday.
He’s such a sweetie! Now we need to think of a name…
Tanna
March 8, 2008 at 2:20 pmHe’s adorable. You could name him Lovely. Not a very boyish name though. :)

March 8, 2008 at 2:42 pmAw! He is adorable!
I just spent a ridiculous amount of money at Petsmart today so I could spoil my new pup. haha, puppies do that to you! Be prepared.
If my Edie was a boy, I wanted to name her Ph/finneus. Ph/Finn for short. Finn or Henry are my suggestions!

March 8, 2008 at 2:44 pmCongrats on the new pup! He looks like he will be a faithful companion for many years to come. Speaking of faithful, how about a throw back name like Fido? You never hear dogs named Fido anymore!

March 8, 2008 at 3:23 pmWell done for adopting a dog from a shelter! When you were talking about dog quizzes & breeds on a previous post I got the impression you were shopping for a purebred. I’m really happy to hear that you helped find a home for this little guy, rather than getting one ‘made to order’ from a breeder, or worse, ‘off the rack’ at a pet store!
:)

March 8, 2008 at 3:24 pmGood that they do the neutering, then you get to be his “loving rescuers” and not “those people who did this to me.” Congrats! I can’t wait for the adventures.

March 8, 2008 at 6:36 pmWhat a kawaii puppy dog.
How big is he going to get?? Are you going to crate train him?? If he is going to be inside for the 1st few days/weeks I recommend getting some “puppy pads” for him to pee on (they have a special smell that attracts the dog to go pee on it) We live in an apartment and have to always use them for our puppy and they really work (most of the time, lol)
I’m from Australia and popular dogs name here is Bouncer (There was a famous dog named Bouncer on a 1980’s soap)or Bluey, but thats more for a blue heeler.

March 8, 2008 at 9:51 pmCongratulations on your new family member and also for doing something positive for the community. Good luck with chosing a name… “Obie” aka: Obie-Wan Kenobi (I saw the star wars figurine in your house pics) is just a suggestion.

March 8, 2008 at 10:17 pmoh he’s adorable! i say wait a few days and get to know his personality to figure a name that really fits him.
Laura J.
March 8, 2008 at 10:31 pmWe’re the goofy kind of family that drags out a baby name book when a new furry child joins our ranks, thus we have Hurley Monroe (our Golden Retriever), Sweet Margarita, aka “Sweetie” (our Chihuahua), Willie Flynn (our Yorkie), and Evelyn May, aka “Yahoo” (our spastic Chorkie, the love child of Sweetie and Willie). I don’t know but the cocked ear makes me think of “Seamus O’Malley” … like he’s saying, “Fancy a pint at the corner pub, Love?”
Isabella
March 8, 2008 at 10:43 pmAdorable – those photos just make me melt!
And, I just wanted to give kudos to you for your lovely blog as well – I stumbled across it tonight and I love it so far. :)

March 8, 2008 at 11:41 pmOh. My. Goodness. He’s so, so cute! He has the most adorable face. He’s so perfect. Any ideas yet on a name? I always end up giving my pets people names for some reason.

And not just that, but THANKS! In the name of everyone that works with strays and abandoned animals, thanks! Here in Argentina there’s so many dogs needing homes, and I am always trying to place animals in adoption, so when you see cases like this, makes me super super happy
*hugs*
Hope you guys have fun with this sweetie!!!

March 9, 2008 at 6:20 pmCongratulations on your newest member of your family! My husband and I got our first dog before we were married and now have two dogs and two cats – we call them our “fur family” because we haven’t started having kids yet – much to the despair of our parents and grandparents who all want more little ones running around – for now our “fur family” is all we are ready for (let alone all we can handle). And kudos for adopting from a shelter and giving hope to a dog in need!

March 9, 2008 at 6:32 pmI am very happy that you adopted a dog. There are so many homeless dogs in shelter and you helped save one- congrats and I am proud of you both! I have a rescued also. I highly recommend that you check out an awesome dog psychologist named Cesar Millan. He has a show on National Geo and all he talks about is training us- people to be a responsible dog owner, http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/
Congrats again!

March 11, 2008 at 1:28 pmaww, how cute! I personally think he looks like a Bobbie, but I like Oliver too. Interestingly enough though, my first thought when I saw him was Fido, so you could also go with that suggestion from Erica. I wish you and your new doggie the best!!

March 11, 2008 at 3:06 pmComing from a girl with a dog named Hamburger (Burger for short) may I suggest Tater Tot?
We saw a dog with that name in a shelter once and almost had to adopt him right there sheerly based on his name. Wouldn’t it seem that Hamburger and Tater Tot were destined to be the best of friends? Unfortunately Tater was already spoken for.
Sniffle.

March 12, 2008 at 9:00 pmThanks, everyone! We went back and forth between lots of names, including several that you all mentioned. Also, Brandon was kind of partial to “IndianaJonesHanSolo”, but I sort of vetoed that one. In the end, we decided…
His name is Murray!
