Apparently, he has the amazing ability to think things into existence! How else can yesterday’s surprise delivery be explained?
My mom has requested that Brandon thinks about a new addition to her house. I asked Brandon what he thought about a certain egg chair showing up any day now at the house. No word yet, but we’ll probably think about ordering it soon.

August 7, 2008 at 9:54 amIt does look really good, so you have to give him credit for that. ;)
Where did you get your big puffy floral things? My craft stores never have any cute ones, so I was thinking of going to Pier 1, Z-Gallerie, etc.

August 7, 2008 at 9:55 amToo funny! My fiance’s dad has a term for this situation. It’s called the ‘wife tax’ – whenever husbands make an unauthorized purchase and the wife decides to make a purchase (or retaliation) of her own… I’m thinking you might need an egg chair too!

August 7, 2008 at 10:23 amMaybe this was a Husband Tax. After all, there was that dining set. ;)

August 7, 2008 at 10:32 amI love Nicole’s comment…that’s totally how I am (:
It’s funny that there’s a “B” right next to the TV. Do you label everything each of you buys? :b

August 7, 2008 at 11:54 amAn eye for an eye, is what I say =) The new TV looks fab though!

August 7, 2008 at 11:59 amAt least he has a sense of scale. My husband came home one day with an 8 foot wide projector screen and then built himself a home theater in our basement. Now that we’ve moved he feels obligated to build one bigger and better. But that just means a better craft space for me. Maybe there is something to this spousal tax?
I love that bold pattern on the door and window, my eye kept drifting there :)

August 7, 2008 at 12:51 pmLOL! Loving the husband tax/wife tax comments!
The TV looks great though, so at least he “thought” about the right thing.

August 7, 2008 at 12:53 pmYes, where did that great door & window covering come from? Did you make it yourself?

August 7, 2008 at 12:55 pmhaha! this is too funny — what a surprise for you, right?
oh, boys… :)

August 7, 2008 at 1:29 pmJulie, I can’t agree more. My husband picked out a 50″ flat screen that is OBSCENE.
Brenda
August 7, 2008 at 1:52 pmI have that “B”…got mine at Anthro.

August 7, 2008 at 2:07 pmYep, the ‘B’ is from Anthropologie. I like the idea of labeling our purchases though… that’s funny. As is the idea of spousal tax!
The door and window fabric is from IKEA (the ANDREA curtain panel). I just cut it down to size and sewed pocket hems.
I do have to say, at least he picked a good TV. He knew that (if we decided to buy a new TV) I would want it to be white and small enough to fit between the door jambs.

August 7, 2008 at 2:09 pmOh, and the green things in the vase were from Crate & Barrel.

August 7, 2008 at 6:45 pmI didn’t know that anyone else except me had that ability! Very cool, we should start a club – People Who Can Think Things Into Existence. I got a new laptop in July using my special abilities, husband was very surprised.
You and my husband can start a support group, I know he needs one. :-)
Love love love your decorating. That’s an ability I totally lack. But want, really bad. Your place is kick-ass.

August 7, 2008 at 9:01 pmI love the grouping of the TV, the letter “B” and the giant white vase. The proportions of each work so well together.

August 8, 2008 at 8:49 amToo funny! I really like the idea of labeling purchases. That way company would know why the questionable art work my husband loves is hanging in our den.

August 8, 2008 at 11:49 amHave you seen the commercial… It’s for insurance and the couple is in the checkout line, and he has insurance boxes for a boat, an RV, basically toys… and the wife says we do not own any of those items. The cashier jumps right in and yells “SURPRISE”! Boy, the wife certainly is surprised… I thought of this as soon as you said the big tv arrived and maybe an egg chair is in your husband’s future. Enjoy the SURPRISES!

August 8, 2008 at 12:34 pmIt looks great. My husband “thought” a 47-inch television into existence for our one-bedroom NYC apartment a few weeks ago. I was able to position on a wall that isn’t the focal point of the room, but every time I see it screams out “out of scale!” It does beat our old bulky tv and is great to watch movies on though.

August 8, 2008 at 12:36 pmI have to say I am quilty of this…. I often go places with the intention of “researching” or “just seeing what my options are…” Usually I’ve completed my research and selected the best option and brought it home with me. It’s also usually accompanied with various other items… as the new object doesn’t work with the rest of the stuff I have ;)

August 9, 2008 at 1:46 amDo you think you could ask Brandon to “think” a new TV for our appartment, too? Ours is sooo tiny! :)
With us, it’s me who normally “thinks” things into existence… like that hotel reservation I made yesterday…

August 9, 2008 at 11:08 amThis is too cute! My husband has to kinda ask my permission to order stuff since I handle the finances. Never mind it’s all his salary since I am going to school full time! Gotta love that one!

August 10, 2008 at 5:46 pmThank goodness I’m not the only one who still has a VCR! You just made me feel much better! I have a DVD player too, but I only own VHS copies of some of my favorite movies and don’t currently have the funds to replace them all. I do love that TV!

August 11, 2008 at 12:37 pmIsn’t our mind a beautiful thing? We can think things into existence, others are better at it though. Me? I still have a lot of practice to do…So if Brandon is not busy maybe a huge flat wall tv for me too? :)
Wendy
August 11, 2008 at 2:03 pmShannon- Put your favorite movies on your birthday or Christmas list. That is what I have been doing, I don’t *need* anything and don’t want my family to spend crazy amounts of money on me. I am getting close to phasing out all my VHS stuff either through receiving them as gifts or me just realizing I don’t watch some of them so they just get tossed.
I love the B :) As a joke I bought on clearance a cross stitch kit with my initial and gold seed beads to put a crown on it, I put it near things I love. I offered to do one from my DH in a manly blue he passed, his loss.

August 14, 2008 at 12:30 amVery nice TV… Your home is really coming into place… I really like it and am more excited now to move into my own place…

August 21, 2008 at 8:43 amThanks for the heads up on that fabric from IKEA. I love it, and I love the way you used it.
