The sisal rug in our dining room is about five years old, and it has a big threadbare spot on it that was just made much worse this weekend by vacuuming. Luckily, FLOR just opened a store in Chicago, so Brandon and I headed out to see what we could find.
We went through, grabbing a sample of each carpet style and color that interested us. Then we started narrowing down the choices (too dark, too light, can’t withstand heavy foot traffic, and so on), until we ended up with our final selection: Feelin Groovy in Pewter.
Brandon and I also really liked the Be My Neighbor Rug.
Where could we use something so awesome? In Brandon’s office, of course. He’s going to feel like a giant.

June 23, 2009 at 9:53 amI have always loved grey as a neutral. I think your choice will look wonderful. And I loved your comment about Brandon feeling like a giant. Awesome.

June 23, 2009 at 10:13 amYou know … I wanted to like Flor. I bought some tiles – some for our hallway, and another rug “set”. I just didn’t like how they looked/wore. Maybe they aren’t cat-friendly? I’m not sure, but I’m just not a fan, and I really really wanted to love them.

June 23, 2009 at 10:17 amThat neighborhood rug is awesome! So different! an office would be a great spot for it, or a sun room.
Good call the the gray. I live in the midwest as well and between the season, my carpets look gray :-)

June 23, 2009 at 10:19 amI really like Flor. I have a big section of it in my family room and it looks as good as the day I bought it. They really have some fun patterns.

June 23, 2009 at 10:35 ami bought my mom a set similar to the neighborhood one, but it had a city in place of housing. It was SO cool! except that it was SO small. In the picture you posted, it looks like they used 2 or maybe 3 boxes. My advice is to buy two sets of it, or add in a solid neutral for a patchwork effect.

June 23, 2009 at 12:17 pmThis is off the subject a bit, but, how did you attach the pink fabric in the back of your hutch & make it look so great?

June 23, 2009 at 4:48 pmYou might want to purposely stain your FLOR samples and try to get them clean before you buy them. I bought mine when my son was an infant, they didn’t last a year. Babies drool and spill A LOT! My friend said our FLOR rug looked like a NYC sidewalk… yick!

June 23, 2009 at 5:05 pmI love FLOR tiles! I am waiting for them to have another free shipping event so I can switch my living room rug up. My Bissell SpotBot cleans ours up really well.

June 23, 2009 at 6:14 pmAnyone know how to find out about the furniture used in the flor catalog and prob website too. A lot is modern from DWR, but I’m drooling over some of the other stuff.

Much of the furniture is from neighbor store Jayson Home & Garden, especially what is in the Chicago store. http://tinyurl.com/od4lcc
