I’m signing off for the week to enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend, feeling very thankful this year. Summing it up in a couple of sentences sounds trite, but please accept a simple and heartfelt thank you to all of you.

These Finnish Eyes as Big as Plates photos by Riittai Konen and Karoline Hjorth are stunning. Beautiful. Inspiring.

The 7 word autobiographies of famous creatives (Joan Didion, David Byrne, Madeleine Albright, and many others) are pretty clever.

Hey, after Thanksgiving, people no longer think you’re nuts if you have a Christmas tree up! Here are some fun alternatives to the traditional tree this year.

Hello, pretty little brass pencil case.

Get the look: wicker and woven texture in the bedroom.

Think outside the box with these cute geometric picture frames.

I love the card series of furniture in Animal Crossing, but ZOMG this table exists IRL!

Modernica didn’t design the Eames-style shell chairs they sell, but they do produce the most authentic versions today.

Cozy up on the couch with a movie and a good throw blanket (or two). Perfect for family movie night, or post-turkey napping.

November 27, 2013 at 1:36 pmI read your post on throw blankets since I am now admitting that I have a blanket obsession. My husband makes fun of me constantly for it. :) Anyway, these amazing blankets are made in a town not far from me here in MN. They reopened the factory a couple years ago and are using the same looms and patterns that the company began with and are also creating new, more modern designs as well. I really hope you’ll check out http://www.faribaultmill.com/ I absolutely love the deer jacquard wool thrown, amazing weaving!

November 27, 2013 at 8:41 pmHappy Thanksgiving!
We have plenty of room for our artificial tree, but I am seriously considering not putting one up this year. I have a huge indoor houseplant that is in the window right next to where the tree will go, and I realized today, as I was decorating for Thanksgiving, that I could totally string lights on it. I have two boys, and they don’t really get into decorating the tree, so it’s mostly up to me, and it’s a lot of work.

November 27, 2013 at 8:45 pmString lights go a long way toward making things Christmasy. ;)

November 28, 2013 at 8:38 pmJane (my 18yo) says if you want more bells to catch sharks and beetles at night on the island and then sell them at retail. Idk what all that means but at least then you’ll be able to get your fancy card table :)
